Just installed new pads, how long is the break in period?
Yup! ever get back from a brake job from PepBoys and have them say.."take it easy and break em in!"?
I think you will be fine. If you are still concerned, then drag your foot on the brakes for about 50 Yards while traveling..30MPH.

I read somewhere they recommend taking them to relatively high temperature by braking several times from 50-60 km/h and let them cool down. After that they are would be ready to take abuse.
I'm not sure if it is enough though. I did this procedure and after several days took my car for a lapping day. Brakes were smoking so much that I got black flagged

I know for sure at the shop that my father works at, they give a warning on paper to brake job customers:
"Avoid excessive or high speed braking for the first 160-200 miles. Harsh braking can cause heat spots which leads to a reduction of braking efficiency"
Now I sort of agree and disagree with that statement. When you are driving around town how often do you brake at the threshold? Harsh is a very broad word to use and I think they really mean don't brake to the limits of your brake system right away.
Again it's just a matter of your opinion on the subject. But we can all agree that you get the absolute worse performance from your brakes when it's brand new.
