I'm really getting sick of other people's ignorance...
Because my R is a Daily Driver I use it to commute to school. It seems evertime I park on campus I always get the biggest piece of **** parking 2mm away from my car and the driver ALWAYS hits my R with his door. Every day I come out from class I have to inspect my door for some recent crator from a volvo, chevy etc... Anyone here who drives thier R to school have the same problem? What do you guys do? Im feeling really shitty and this morning started out so well...
After parking your car at school, be thankful it's still there. The R's been my daily driver up until the end of this week when I'll be using my Civic. When I take it to the grocery store, there's always a new scratch or ding. My husband says, "If you wouldn't wait 25 minutes to get the spot front row, in front of the door, this wouldn't happen." Then I proceed to tell him that I'd rather have repairable dings and scratches than no car at all.
You do have a point. I am always surprised that my R is still there. I guess the only thing to do is suck up the punishment until I'm done with school and I have enough money to give my R a makeover. This doesn't change the fact that I hate people.
I got like 9 dings. 1 in the rear bumper.
I dont even drive the car that much. Its amazing people cant open a door and not hit the car beside them. I'm 6'6 and can get out of my ITR on the second door click.

most people don't care. i used to try to remember the plates of the cars next to me or even write them down. yes i was that ****, my R was spotless.
I know exactly what you mean. I will even watch over peoples' cars when someone parks next to them and they ALWAYS!!!!!!! hit the other car. WTF? Are people fu@#ing retarded! It seems like a majority of people screw this "door opening process up." I thing that I think is funny is that people are so quick to smash the living **** out of your door when you aren't there but then when your next to or inside your car they are extra careful......What a bunch or freaking animal mammalian slimey scumbags

F***ing pull out your tire iron and ding their GD door. Park in an end space or something so only one car can park next to you, try to stay as far away as possible and if someone parks too close and damages your property then do the same to theirs. F*** them.

The problem is that most people don't really see a difference between an Integra and an Accord. We also think of our sub $20k car as though they are exotics...most of the world would say that we are the ones that are ignorant. Remember that it's just a car and no matter what you drive it's going to get dinged.

Just park on end spaces or at the end of the lot.
You must assume everyone is an ******* that doesn't give a flying **** about your car - that's your main problem.

Wouldn't this make you just as bad as them? Like I said in other posts. Its kinda fucked up to mess with someone's car. If you got a problem...you take it to them. The car is not at fault, the driver is.

That is the price you pay having an ITR as a daily driver, and driving to school no less. I like Nishant's method of taking pics of the licence plates. I'm really **** but that's awesome. I drive my girlfriends car to the mall, movies, bowling, anywhere where it's parked in a parkade of some sort to avoid my R getting dinged or stolen. My R goes to work and back and spirited highway drives for fun. The only thing to do is get a beater or soaked it up. Which sucks because some people don't have the option of a secondary vehicle. Lots of people are ignorant and don't give a **** about their own car let alone a great car like the R.

Chill out man, its a dam door. What if some 5 year old kid accidentaly hit it with their parents minivan, and you smashed their door in with the tire iron. Id imagine nobody personally has the intent of dinging your door, just do your best to avoid it, and if not accept it.
Also for the ignorant ******, karma is a bitch.

People tend to assume every car has those plastic side mouldings to protect the doors so there's even less reason to care. Hence I tend to parallel park as much as possible, which also means I get to walk an extra couple of minutes normally.
The other thing I'll do is deliberately park off centre in the space so I have just enough space to get out comfortably, but the next car has that little bit extra to make it easier for them. This assumes most people are by themselves.

Huh? I drive the Accord to places where the R shouldnt' be....what does that have to do with how people view our cars? Of course it's going to get dinged, but do I care? No, it's my beater car....that's what beaters are for...

this is something we all have to deal with..i dont have an R but im very **** about my GSR...like someone else said you have to assume that every person in a parking lot is a complete moron...
i usually dont park next to anyone in parking lots...i park in a spot where theres no possible way a shopping cart can hit my car, and if the space is too small i dont park there...
usually ill take my moms car if i have to run to the store or something...at work i can park where i can watch my car all day, and at school i can park away from other cars..so no problems there...and i still end up with scratches...

I leave the same space custion between my car and the next and people STILL park 2mm from my door. I think there is something in peoples' subconsciousness that makes them park a minium distance from the car next to them, or maybe its out of habit. My response to people who, "dont know what they're doing when slam into the neighbor car with their door because it doesn't mentally register with them" is utter bullshit. If this was true then they would do it while your sitting in or standing next to your car...but they don't so they obviously know its wrong to ding other peoples cars. The worst part of this ordeal is that people never fess up to the damage and you always get stuck with the bill. What happens next? The insurance company low ***** your *** and then you have to go to a body shop and fumbles the job and makes the door damage worse. I refuse to buy excuses. Im careful when I open my door even when the car next to me is a piece. I guess its to much to ask for other people to do the same. Some people are lowlives and will stop at nothing to ruin your life and wipe out your whole family and the only thing that stops them is death.
This is my wife's pet peeve. She has a really clean MDX and is careful to park far away at parking lots. It never fails that with a completely empty row, some jackass has to park right next to her
I bought my ITR used; it already had plenty of door dings. I care more about what is under the hood than the appearance of the car anyway.

What was Honda's logic for removing the side molding from the ITR? The metal on Integras is so thin that it gets a ding from just looking at it. It needs all of the protection that it can get.
I too prefer parallel parking, but people are really bad at that too. Some people intentionally keep backing or pulling forward until they hit the other car.
One day, my wife comes into the apartment to tell me that someone hit my rear bumper. I got out to find a 10" wide yellow and silver paint burn on my driver's side rear. Why was it yellow and silver? My upstairs neighbor had previously hit a yellow painted pole in his silver Lumina. He fessed up when I confronted him, but he had to have known that he did damage. He and most other people are simply oblivious about their and other peoples cars.
I understand that door dings will occur. But when someone clearly parks over the line in a space, I call in the parking patrol. Parking patrols at schools live for these things, as their days are boring.
