Apex'i N1 without pillow ball mounts?
I have bougt a set of 99 spec Apex'i N1 dampers and they came without the pillow ball mounts. I only got these 'rings' which came on the top and the bottom of each spring.
Somebody on HT told me i can not use the N1 without the pillow ball mounts. Is he right?

on double wishbone it doesn't matter, you can use oem rubber upper mounts (nice b/c you don't get too much vibration).. the aftermarket just adds rigidity and feel by providing a solid mounting pt.
on mac struts you get added camber plates which is nice but that isn't possible with d/w suspension

I run the N1 99spec on my R with the factory upper hats and it is great. The ride with the poly ones is much different, alot harsher.
I have the 99 spec apexi n1 dampers on my 00 itr as well.
If anyone wants to sell some of the springs off of their set, please IM me.
The ride is
and much more responsive than with the stock rubber upper mounts. If you track or autox your car, get the pillowball uppers. I would NEVER use the stock rubber upper mounts. AND the apexi springs are much smaller in diameter than the stock ones. So the apexi springs will slide around inside the stock rubber uppers.
I have an extra set of the pillowball mount uppers if anyone wants to buy them as well...

I have received the pillow ball mounts from Black R today and while i have cleaned them i have noticed that i can spin only 2 spherical bearings. Is this ok? Are the rear ones (?) fixed?
They haven't been used for a while and it is very hard to spin the bearings, do i have to grease them?

The bearings will move when you install them, mine were very tight as well til I put them in..Don't worry they be fine.
Thanks for your reply. I bought some WD-40 yesterday and the result is that the two bearings i could spin/rotate/wobble before now can be spinned very easy by hand and the other two still seems to be rigid.
I'm afraid they will damage the shafts of the damper if i install them
