94 civic do i need a obd1 or 2 for a b18b
little new to this and not for sure before i order my engine i think a need a obd1 but not for sure and if i buy the swap with the obd2 do i only need to replace it with the obd1 and will it work or what thanks
um ur ? is really confusing but if the motor u buy is obd 1 you'll be fine, but if its obd 2 u need to buy a harness that converts it to obd1

No you dont, If its an OBDII motor, just get an OBDI ecu, and plug it in, and call it a day.

The car is a 94 so it's OBD1 to begin with. If you put an OBD1 engine in it you'll be fine, if you put an OBD2 motor in it you'll only be able to use some of the sensors on that motor and you'll be spending some time on wiring in the engine bay. You can only use an OBD2 to OBD1 conversion harness if the CAR was OBD2 to begin with....not the engine.

only for a JDM engine, I have an OBDII LS engine in my OBDI civic, and all I changed was putting in an OBDI ecu instead of an OBDII, no CEL's or anything

that is correct, and if your also using an OBDII ecu, I personally talked to the owner of Boomslang, a maker of these harnesses, and he said if I was going to use it on a USDM engine then I would have to change out a lot of the wires because the harnesses are only made for JDM engine swaps. However, if your using all USDM ****, then just keep the ecu that coordinates with the engine.
