Try to push it back into place, the cable will come out if you pull on it and will go back in if you push it in. Try that.

don't try to do anything else, just replace the cable. I'm pretty sure its snapped and if u wanna make sure, pull the cable and if it comes out all the way out of the cable "shell" then you just have to go find yourself a new one

This is how I do mine.

Make sure you have the retainer clip on the speedo sensor.

1. I take the instrument cluster cover off, reach to the back of the guage cluster and disconnect the speedo plug. If you want you can take the guage cluster out for easier access.

2. plug in the speedo wire into the tranny, just put it in till it stops.

3. go inside and take a needle nose plier and turn the speedo wire till it sinks down(that is how you know it's lined up)

4. now under the hood, plug the cable all the way into the speedo sensor and put the guage cluster back.

Works for me, hope this helps you sir.

unplug your cluster and drive and look at the exposed speedo cable, of course it should spin.

sorry
Do what youngwon22 recommended. This has happened to my cable before and after I replaced it, no more popping out!

It is also not uncommon for the speed cable to break inside it's plastic protective sleeve. You can have everything plugged in right but it still won't work. Since it's a cable it needs to be lubbed every so often, which no one does. One just broke in my daily driven ED. Best way to tell it just to see if the cable will pull out of it's sleeve and check to see if it's broken.

What he said unless you have a new cable, its gonna snap sooner or later, i just got myself a new one from dealership for 40 mother f**kin dollars but it was worth it MAKE SURE you put,,,i forgot what its called but they have some sort of special lubrication you have to put on the end of the new cable. Just go ask @ the dealership
