SKUNK2 STAGE 2 CAMS
I think those cams need a Vtec engagment of around 5.5-6k for the torque curve not to drop. The shuttering or whatever is probably due to vtec set stock and no tunning.. Dyno tune and you'll find they will perform better.
this helped me a lot as well.....what do u guys have your valves set at...i went to inline four and used the stock settings of 7 and 8 like they said, but my valves are way noisy
really getting cams and no tuning done with it
it misses the point
dont forget that cams
work between a range that
at some point it makes power after a certain point it just stops making it.
so a chip really doesnt work
get a piggyback sistem ex
vafc
or
hondata
and dyno that baby you will find the hp you are missing

stage2 cams are made for higher compression motors, i.e. about 12.0:1. stage1's are better for a stock compression motor... your powerband will have gone to **** and you MAY have gained MAYBE a few horses up top, but lost a shitload below. also, check your oil level too...
You may not have enough oil pressure when your VTEC engages that is probably what is causing the stutter. The pressure is there, but it's not quite enough. If you had an ITR oil pump, you may get a little more pressure (not sure what motor or other mods you have though).
I would highly suggest that you get your setup tuned. Usually chips will cause your motor to run rich. Without tuning, the chips benefits will not be seen. Dyno tuning will also tell you where your motor/cams are running out of power. You may want to consider some bottom end upgrades if you are going to go much over the stock rev limit (again not sure of what mods you have).
What are you guys referring to when you say what your valves are set at? Timing? Just trying to get a grip on this thread that's all.

running stock header? if so get a dcsport or similar header. had same problem, stock header choked the engine causing it to studder.. had skunk stage 2 cams with built head on a stock block b16. dynoed at 163whp. lost low end? 111 torque throughout the whole powerband. i didnt lose anything but gain **** load of power with those cams.. went through 2 motors with these cams and i'll soon throw them in my stock b18cr.
what kind of valves are you guys using with these s2 cams? I'm thinking of putting in my stage 2 with s2 valvetrain too, also with a s2 chipped, i been warn that it'll lag between 4-5 but when dual vtec kicks it'll make up alot of it. I'm planning to go 9 grand with stock bottom.
