Expected life of a stock engine
How long more can a stock 91 CRX Si engine with 225,000 kilos run with a proper maintenance? I won't do any swap until it goes but it runs great so far and I don't really have any complaints.
tnx

Depends on how well maintained it was. The D16A6 can go way past 275 with a little love. But keep in mind when it goes... a replacement from nippon is only $395.
well people usually go way over 250,000 before anything really expensive happens, but theres no real way to know how often oil changes and regular maintenance was done before you got the car.
best bet is to always do right by it, youll def get a lot more then you'd expect.
my 85si had over 250k
the folks across the street have an 89 sedan over 200k
id say you have a ways to go on that stockie.

Are u saying miles and kilometers ... my odeometer is 225,000 km (140,000 miles) ... i check oil daily and change it every 5-6k km (3-3.5 miles).
I hope to run the stock to 300,000 km (190,000 miles) ... would be cool

no i had a crx si 1990 and im the 2nd owner but the guy i bought it from..he kind of gave it hell now and then but he took real good care of it maintnace wise...i got it with 372,000! miles on it and i drove it to 375,000 before i swapped a b16...and it ran real strong with the si motor took it to the track and ran a 10.12 in the 1/8
Ive gotta 89 crxsi, I put a header cold air intake exaust plugs and wires and I plained the head for higher compression on the stock motor @ 104k. I now have 290k and ive beat the **** out of it and it still runs strong with alittle smoke at max rev.
The 91 Si I just picked up has 269,000 miles and the compression test I did last weekend showed 175-175-170-175. It has always been serviced regulary and driven responsibly (owned by a family member). It even had the original CV axles (which I changed because of some slight clicking), as well as the original clutch.
if you keep up with the car, dont even need to change the oil every 3k miles, thats a myth, check out how long your oil lasts
anyways...your body will rust and fall apart before the engine does.

i also have a 92 VX hatch, 1.5 D15Z1 with 6 PSI and its running strong at 228K. change the oil offten and ur tune ups.. you'll go 300 easy!
i was looking at an 88 hatch the other day at the u-pull it and it had 389k miles on it. and a very thick stack of maintenance rediepts in the glove box. it was killed by a sideswipe or i am sure its rusty old *** would still be running.
my 90 si has 238,000+ on it and it's still going strong. it'll probably go to at least 300,000, but i plan to have a b16 swapped in before it gets there. i did see one for sale not too long ago with 375,000 on it that was still running well, so yours probably has quite a bit of life left in it. (and those are all in miles, not kilometers)
You just never really know unless you really look over the car. I had 2 89 hatch's. 89si w/145k and burnt alot of oil and a 89dx with 225k and still didn't burn much oil when yanked.
my 88 crx hf had over 220k miles before i pulled it for a d16z6
but a new d16a6 can be found at http://www.kwcengine.com for $205!!!!!
