Default Cams for a Stock B16

Over here in the UK we dont get much choice in cams so everything has to be brought from the states or Japan..

Im currently planning to rebuild my noisy head, and while im there get some new cams, springs, retainers, lma's etc etc..

But the dilemma i got is i dunno what cams to get!! I bet you've heard it a million times before, and i have tried searching, but every thread ends up in an arguement with no decent info!!

Basically im not doing any bottom end work.. Its got all the usual zorst, header, intake, and im running a Dastek Unichip (dont think you americans get this! - but its a Fully Programmable Piggyback ECU, tis very good!), AEBS IM, ITR TB etc..

Im looking at:

Buddyclub Spec III +
Skunk2 Stage 2
and CTR/ITR

comments?!

For a stock B16 bottome end id do the following
1) Rockets M22s an valvetrain
2) Skunk2 Stage 1
3) Toda A's

The M22s made good power on Omnimans B16, of course he also had an intake manifold an a hytech header and other mods. I personally ran S2S1 cams in my B16 with a Skunk2 intake manifold, an my b16 RIPPED! they were very nice. Most people say to use a bigger cam like a S2S2 u need a higher compression to get the full potential. I have seen where a stock block made more power with S2S1 cams than with Stage 2. I wouldnt go with ITR/CTR cause for the same price you can get S2S1s which make more power an are a better cam IMO

Call Kent cams, they will make you anything you need plus have atleast 3 diff. sets on the shelf. They made me custom cams. (vetec-killers) gears, and springs in 1996. There is another cam Mfg. but the name slips by right now, with Kent, Jenvey, DTA Eng. Mgt, and Accralite pistons you can build anything you need. I buy from all those, even if the exchange rate sucks now.

Buddy Club III + or Skunk 2 stage 2. Both make great power. From the dyno numbers I have seen, the BC's make awesome mid-range power and have a solid top end. S2S2's have a very nice top end. CTR/ITR cams make power, but no where near as much as the other 2 cams. I have seen dyno's in this forum of the Buddy Club's on what I believe was a GSR motor gaining 14whp over ITR cams. Look for dyno's on this forum. That will be your biggest help.
