cam gear setting on ls/vtec...did search
i am looking for what everyone else is running for cam gear settign on basically any NA motor. i have an ls/vtec with the mods in my signiture (the 91 hatch). i want to start tweaking on the cam gears but the closest dyno is over 350 miles away and i know it would be the easiest way and more efficent way to tune it but i have no time to make the trip. i work damn near 7 days a week and when i have a day off, all i want to do is sleep. i have read people advancing the intake +2-4 and retarding the exaust -0-2. the track i race at is at an elevation of a little over 5500 FT and i am at a 15.23 consistant. 15.07 is my best i have run with this motor. but if ay of you have any ideas, that would be helpful. thanks.
You don't want to advance it too far, with every degree you advance on the cam you advance total ignition timing another 2 degrees. If you do make sure you have a timing light standing by ready to readjust ignition timing.
What Pistons / Cams are you running? If its stock, you'll probably be fine going no more than 4 degrees on the intake side.
