First time at track this weekend
Well, I finally got to run my car on the drag strip this weekend. I decided to go to the track instead of doing the usual street racing thing because a few weeks ago a friend of mine got busted in my car doing 120 in the 65. He got $492 in fines and is in the process of losing his license. This REALLY made me think.
Anyway, I went to the Cecil county sports complex over the weekend and ran my 97 civic hatch with a 97 JDM ITR engine in it. I launched about 3200 rpm, as you can tell by my 60 ft, and still got a lot of wheel hop. I know I can get this down a few tenths, but for my 1st time, I think I did ok. Here it is.
1st run ... 2nd run ... 3rd run
r/t ... .563 ... .704 ... .931
60' ... 2.472 ... 2.306 ... 2.411
330' ... 6.457 ... 6.376 ... 6.405
1/8 ... 9.695 ... 9.644 ... 9.622
mph ... 76.90 ... 76.10 ... 77.23
1000 ... 12.439 ... 12.400 ... 12.345
1/4 ... 14.776 ... 14.750 ... 14.667
mph ... 96.50 ... 96.16 ... 97.21
The engine is completely stock except for the exedy stage 1 clutch. The car is also catless with 2.00" ID piping and full interior. A bigger exhaust should help too since I am running one that is smaller than stock. That's in the works. The second run was my best 60', but I missed second due to shitty aftermarket shift **** falling off in palm. Threw it on the floor and kept going! Feedback and help for future runs is appreciated. Thanks.

Your last run's ET isn't bad at all considering the 60'! Lots of potential there w/ some slicks or maybe even drag radials.
I'll be @ cecil in about 2 weeks

I think I am going down again this weekend. My friend is trailering his dad's 64 mustang down and I want to see what that runs. I also want to try to better my times. What et is possible with a trap of 97 mph without slicks? I am aiming for a 14.3 or better. Do you guys think it's possible with my current setup and times above?
nice times for a first timer...
yeah, with that 60 foot to a 2.0 or better.... im sure low 14s or even high 13s can be achieved.
good luck.
get some light wheels with good drag radials or slicks.
work on the launch.....

Ok guys. Heading to the track on Friday for the second time. This time I want to change some things....namely tire pressure. I am going to get the right spark plugs (I have heat range 6 and they should be 7), but more importantly, what tire pressure should I run? I have a 97 dx hatch with stock suspension. I don't want to drop it too low because I hear that lowers your trap....what is a good medium? Last time I ran tires were at 30 psi all the way around. Thanks for any help.
