i finally got around to lowering my integra, and when i got to the rears, i found these blocks wedged into the spring coils..? what were they for? make it stiffer? i bought the car used, and this is what it looked like.
you think the org. owner needed stiffer rears? more weight? hauling ****? i dont' get it.. they'res no hitch or anything.. so im stumped.
BTW.. heres my bucket's new look.

i've never seen those before...like u said maybe it is to make it stiffer in the back or to make it so the springs to sag when people are in the car or something

You can get those at AutoZone, you slip them in sideways between the coils, put a ratchet into the square opening, and twist them to the vertical position to space the coils apart.
I once tried them on my old Camry because the rear tires were scraping the fenders around corners. It had Mac struts on all 4 corners, with the huge springs with really wide-spaced coils, and eventually those spacer things either shifted around on the spring, or just fell out. They probably work better on cars with smaller springs like Hondas.

well either way, they're lame.. but why would a socal owner of a integra want to make the rears higher, or stiffer? that just amazes me. oh well.

those are lifters. i put those on cars when i worked in a tire shop. patricks right. but we used them when ppl put wheels that are too big for their car. its a ghetto way to stop wheel rubbing. like when people put 20x8.5 wire wheels on an 88 regal...

i had htough on my teggy, it was used to raise the car, they have different heights depending on how much higer you want the car i htink it goes up too as much as 2 in

A raised stiffer rear would be good for drag racing. And since they aren't a permanent change, you can install them, race, then remove them. Sounds like a decent, if not half assed, way to drag race a street car.

ok.. now this is making sence.. when i bought the car, the prev. owner had 18's on it. so im guessing maybe he had a tire rubbing issue? keep in mind, it was only the backs? but im banking on this being his theory.
