h23 accord will not start
posted in another section but someone directed me here . ok well its an 94 accord swapped with an 93 h23 and it was converted from auto to manual as well . well i swapped the motor around 5 months ago . and its been running strong and fine for those 5 months until last week when i went to go start it, it cranked, but it wouldnt start .
i dont have any cel's so i dont know where to start or whether my problem is electrical/mechanical . so i checked everything that i thought could be the problem . i know that u need air, fuel, and spark . so i tried checking my fuel and that is good . and then i tried checking my spark but i noticed that i have no spark . so i started from there and checked my distributor and my ignition coil and those are good . other than that, i am stuck and i dont know what else to do . please can someone help me out there . thanks .

hmm....accord, 80% chance that your igniter is at fault and the other 20% is your ignition coil. I would just go to a nearest honda dealer and pick up that "igniter" if you have no spark. they'll tell you the same "yeah, it's a common problem"
didnt want to start another thread so i decided to continue this one . its been awhile now and i still got no spark . and i replaced the distributor and the ignition coil with a new one . i also got a new battery and autozone tested my alternator and said it was good . and i also got a friends mechanic to come to check my car and said that it could be an electrical problem and it couldve been one of my lengthened wires when i did the swap . well all i know is that i lengthened the IAC & IAT sensors and switched 2 pins at the ecu . i checked them and they seem to be fine . does anyone else got any other suggestions ?! because i am willing to look at anything to make this work right now .
one more thing . about a week or 2 weeks ago i replaced the ignition coil i got at the junkyard and it started right up . and after driving it for about 30 mins . it shut off completely and wouldnt start again . and since it was a used coil from the junkyard i thought it was shot . so that is when i decided to buy a brand new coil . but after putting on the new coil it cranked but didnt start . any thoughts on that as well to the problem ?!
and its a thought in my head . but does anyone know if i can use my old ecu from my accord with the prelude motor ?! just incase if it could be that my current ecu is bad .

first of all, do this... use a test light and connect it to the positive lead on the coil and crank the motor. if the test light doesnt light up, your ignitor isn't working.
if you say your ignitor is fine, trace it from there.
in a nutshell, go to your local dealer and see if you can borrow the ETM for your Accord. ETM is Electrical Troubleshooting Manual, and they make a different one for every make and model for every year, so you figure out what you need. they might want you to leave a deposit, because the book is over $50.00, but i guarantee you will fix your problem if you use that book properly and have a halfway decent understanding of electricity.
make sure you have a fluke and a test light. you'll need em.

no my main relay is fine .
mike k : i am not sure if i am doing this right . but i got an external coil . and i hooked up the test light to a 12v and a ground source . and put the test probe in the secondary winding terminal of the coil . and it didnt flash when i cranked the motor . is that right ?!

I KNOW WHAT IT IS! I happen to be an expert on this problem. Its your starter!!!! I went through this before. My car died one time. I got a new distributor drove fine for a while then it happend again. So i got another distirbutor(swapped a coil) started up and stalled after 5 minutes. Got an ingniter (started than died). I then noticed that the stud that holds the power from the batter onto the starter was loose. And it took me a little bit to realize it was shorting. So i got a new distributor (600 dollars over 2 months just in distributors) and push started the car. Voila!!! Never happend again. Got a new starter and the curse was gone!!! some how that short was frying the distributor.
