15k maintenence - what is necessary?
I just wanted to know what is necessary, in your guys' opinions, for the 15k maintenence. I have the service manual, however, I want to know from you guys with experience what really is necessary, and what is a waste of time...thanks.
I think that the only really important thing is to change your fluids, like the tranny, etc.
If you have a stock intake, get a new filter as well.
I don't know what is listed for the 15k mile maintenance, so if someone else could chime in, it would be a big help

oil change,
diff fluid change (whatever your preference, personally I prefer swepco)
tranny fliud change (honda MTF)
inspect pads, both in and out to check for excessive wear
inspect filter, replace if necessary
inspect tire wear, especially on stock rears (I'd be surprised if they lasted that long)

Yup, already replaced those tires. They were SCARY in the rain.
I dont auto-x or anything like that yet....I dont anticipate my pads needing a change, no fade either.

fade doesn't come from worn pads. fade comes from overheating the brakes which typically occur on a track. even if you autocrossed the car, you shouldn't feel fade one bit, unless it is an extremely long autocross where the brakes are tasked to a point they never get to cool down.
you are just looking for the amount of pad there. which I'm sure is fine, but when you get a chance, remove the wheels and look at the inner pad. you should be able to see if there is plenty left.

lol - I didnt really mean fade as one would feel while driving hard - I dont notice anything abnormal with my brakes. I suppose Ill snoop around down there anyway, I need to install some Konis here at one point coming up anyway.

replacing the air filter isn't necessary that soon unless you drive in construction like conditions.

some go through them every 5k miles, I think I've seen a few get 20k out of them.

that's too often, with proper shifting techniques, the honda MTL fluid will last a long time, over 10k miles. I'd change it every 15k miles or once a year. I'd be more concerned with flushing/replacing the clutch fluid over the tranny fluid.
