Default who is using a T3 .42 .48 turbo or similar on a d or b series let me know!!!!

just picked up this turbo for a great deal and what to know what kind of power people are making with this turbo. I hope I can geat a broader more usable powerband than going with the super 60.

My b16 made like 180whp with 9psi ....it's a great turbo for a sohc not so great for a dohc.......
My d15 pulled as hard (at 10spi) as my b16 did at 7psi (same turbo).......needless to say I upgraded and found a whole new world.....power

I've got 180whp/wtq at only 7psi out of my "45" trim T3.

so its a good turbo for the sohc then. I am hopping to get quick spool up and a nice broad power band compared to the big peaky turbos.

I think its always better to have less peak and more usable power for overall driveability

IMO it's a perfect match for a sohc. It's a little larger then the turbo's that come with the greddy sohc kit so you should make a little more peak power. That t3 is to a sohc what a t3t4 (drag specs) is to a dohc.

Saab T3 is probably .50 trim unit. Some of the early ones were .45 trim. It's a good street unit for SOHC or LS, especially in a light chassis.

No way you'd get a broader power range out of it than a regular .60 trim T3... FYI, most people get .60 trim and Super 60 confused - Super 60 is a good bump in power over .60 trim OEM, just like .60 trim is a good bump in power over .50 trim.

Since you already have the Saab unit, just put your car together and run it. Anything you care to upgrade to by way of bigger T3 and T3/04 only directly bolt in place... I see too many people obsessing over every last detail instead of making their car run and enjoying it.

I've never heard a 60trim t3 referred to as a 'big peaky turbo'. You need to drive one before you make claims like that. And I agree with jdavis on the 50 trim not making a broad power band. Mine pulls nice up top but defiantly flattens out compared to a 60 trim on the same motor. I'm putting on a 60 trim soon because the 50trim is too small to make a nice powerband IMO.

I have no idea what power I make with mine. it pulls hard from 4-7000 but the meat of it is between 4500-6000. I can hang with some 600cc street bikes as a reference. So ya, just put it on and try it...

hey bailhatch: have you gone to the strip with your setup yet? and did you make your own uberdata map.

i will be modifying beerbongs map and altering it with a wideband.

and how much boost are you running?

daily driver with full interior, I take the sub box out when I go to the track.

I was gutted at one point, but could hardy tell a difference in speed with the leather seats put back in

here ya go. T3 .42/.48 off a chrysler lebaron in the junkyard. 7psi on a bone stock ITR motor. Also as you can see this was untuned. Car did eventually make 280hp and 206ftlbs at 11psi.

Never drag raced it. I want to wait for my built block and to build my traction bars since I will probably only go once a summer. I'ts primarily set up for street and auto-x although I do run a pretty agressive unsprung 6 puck.
Yup I have done uberdata on a few cars. I tune the fuel with a PLX m300. Why are you using someones map to start? I always just do the 'how to make a basemap' thing on the uberdata site. Pretty much every car has started off nice and safe with afrs in the low 11s or high 10s using the basemap method.

11psi

I'm impressed with the power you guys are making!

the curve of scooters dyno is pretty much what mine feels like (not respective of rpm of course)...good rise of power then flattens but doesn't fall up top. I hope the 60 trim keeps going a little higher and doesn't flatten out. My turbine housing is a .63 with some mild smoothing and gasket matching so it should work for my needs...until the HX30 get thrown on that is
