Any DA owners with a carbon fiber hood? I need some help.
A few days ago I was at work bustin my *** off making my money. I barely make enough to spice up my ride and it takes awhile for me to save. Plus I have bills and rent to pay for. Anyway, when I was done with work I noticed my alarm chirpped 4 time meaning the alarm went off. I checked the back of the car then checked the front. Some ******* backed into my car and dented my damn hood. It isnt really really bad but I like to keep my car looking good. I just got the car back from the body shop after being side swipped. Anyway I was quoted $250 to fix it. I know people sell Carbon Fiber hoods locally for $250. Which is preferred? Keep the old hood or replace it with a Carbon Fiber one? This is my daily ride so I prefer not to leave it over night at a body shop.
or else I cant go to work. Also how are the hoods affected by the cold? It gets pretty cold in my area and I dont want this thing to start cracking up and stuff. I want a clean look but do I need to get hood pins or locks? They look so ugly IMO. Can any of you DA owners post some pics of your carbon fiber hoods and let me know if its really worth it or not. Thanks in advance for your time and comments.

Which hood is that? Did you have trouble with fitment? How does the hood hold up against mother nature? Do you have problems with the hood vibrating or wobbling which driving on the highway? Did you use the stock weather stripping on the hood? Is it really worth it or no?
Ok i finally bought a carbon fiber hood. Anyway I noticed a few things I need help on. I noticed the hood didnt have holes for the windsheild washers. And the weather stripping as well. What am I supposed to do about this? Drill holes? Secondly the hood doesnt look like its a perfect fit. I asked the guy at the shop why it looks like it doesnt line up as far as height and he said because it needs to settle in? I didnt know that it needed to do that...
As far as those little problems go, the hood looks great and i'm happy with it. I just hope it doesnt fly up anytime soon cuz i'm too broke to get hood pins or locks. I also noticed alittle vibrating on the hood. Are all these problems normal? I know I wont be able to sleep good for awhile. Hopefully I wont hear my pager alarm go off while sleeping(hopefully theieves wont mess with my car) untill I get a hood lock. Thanks for anyones input.

you may need to adjust your latch and move where the hood bolts to the hood brackets. i got mine for 150 but it looks like ****, and it truly doesn't fit right. if it's a decent hood, simply moving your latch may solveyour fitment problems, but if the sides are cut wrong, or if it is just too big, you're screwed.
hope that helps, and don't get discouraged!

P.S. Representin' the DA's!
Edit: who needs windshield washers anyway.... lose em.

Thanks.... I'm guessing the hood needs to sit more foward cuz when he installed it the mounting holes were pushed back. I noticed when he took it off it was more forward. Where the bolt screws into the hinge and hood.
i dunno hood name
but
for wehaterstrping use the stock one....it should have hoes to attach the clips...
2nd windsheld nozzle ...i have no holes either so i just left it off
i didnt want to drill anything
my hood isnt even alight good yet i havent had the time to fix it

change it to a CF hood... a light upgrade... cold weather shouldnt affect your cf hood at all... it like saying that your bumper will crack... its not as fragile as you think it is... only way to crack it, is take a sledge hammer and hit it...
But my question now is.... all sides line up evenly. It just seems to sit high toward the middle of the hood. Is there any adjustment to make the hood sit lower? Here are a few pics.
As you can see from the front view its pretty much lined up. It basically stick up.

Any suggestions?

you could make the hole of the hood hinges bigger (bore it out a little) so you can make it a little back further... i am talking about the side of the hood hinge that attaches to the body and not the hood to clarify.... HTH
this sucks ***. I just spend like an hour trying to do this crap. The hood hinge(connecting to the hood) I tried adjusting. I also tried adjusting the bump stops and I tried adjusting the latch. None of them are working. I also put the weather stripping back on. (Not that it matters) I even tried taking the strut bar off. Nothing seems to be working so I came to the conclusion that the hood itself it messed up? All the measurements are the same as the stock hood. I just dont see why it wont line up and close completely shut. It seems to always have a vertical gap in the middle.
I wish it was just like importdude2000's hood.....

Hey guys, I am gonna be ordering my CF Hood from JDM **** at the end of this month, they have a new AA grade hood out that is great for the price. I have searced around and seen no problems with it, what kinda hoods (brand) are you guys rockin?
you already got a carbon fiber hood!!
1- is light weight
2-Looks better
3- You spent about the same amount of money, like if you were to fix the old one.
and yes if you got a ship one problems are fitment. Also check if the hood is not touching something when you close it.

umm did you even read beyond the first post???
the only way you're going to fix your hood is if you get a different one. as someone stated before, cheap/generic hoods will never fit as good as a nicer more reputable brand. i would suggest trying to find an oem hood at a local junkyard or from a h-t member and cut your losses short.

i picked up a NASTY oem hood for 30 bux ... but trust me it is NASTY ... and a good 1 will cost around 50-100 bux not too bad... (lookin for a clean polar white 1 now paint cost r a bisnatch) if u cant find a good condition hood that is in ur color i say keep the cf (and i aint no fan of cf hoods, but less trouble and probably around the same price mayb less ) and it doesnt look that bad its all in ur head!! unless ur an inch from the car u cant even tell
Ok, I'm an idiot. I thought when I was adjusting the latch it was the one on the hood and not the one on the radiator support. I've come to the conclusion that the reason it sits high is because the latch isnt low enough so when the hood sits down its creating an arch toward the middle. Its kind like if you take a piece of plastic and hold it at both ends. You apply even pressure on both sides and what happens? It arc toward the middle. I believe I will try adjusting the latch(one on the radiator support) and make it lower to relieve that pressure in the middle. Hopefully that will work but the weird thing about it is, today I noticed the hood was sitting lower? Maybe its just me.
