Not the best shots - I mainly wanted to get the engine with its vibrant red Rocker Cover. Am in New Zealand by the way.

Err, that is a type R. It is badged as a type R in New Zealand and Australia. The power is less, yes, because of the RON of our Gas (98 as opposed to 100 in Japan)
What he means is that the Aussies got a car with a Type-S engine in it, but it is badged a Type-R and has most of the Type-R goodies in it...just not the extra 17hp. Not sure if this is true for the kiwis though.

Yeah octane and RON mean the same thing (Researched Octane Number = RON). NBasically we'd loose 10hp because of the Gas RON here, and as a result the typr r engine would knock at the high RPM and damage it, so they released a type S motor to cover their asses - no moans from me!

Are you serious? I don't think that motor requires 100 RON. We only have 91 in most places in US and CAN. Did you read any articles about that? I hope this is not from the dealer...

No no no...
The type s motor can run on both 91 and 96, which is what we have. I also believe some of our pumps have 98. The Japanese type R engine was developed to run for prolonged periods on 100 Octane gas. It will indeed run on 91 or 96 or 98, just not very well. To counter this, they released a second engine that would run fine on 98 and 96.

Nice pics. Too bad you guys get a type S, which makes me worried that the real R won't hit the Canadian shore.
what kinda car is that on the last pic in the back ground?
The red cover looks good, what da ya reckon its worth 10hp??? j/k
Sam
Hmmmmmm... comments.
A lousey excuse for a front strut tower bar... YES there is one, look all the way up against the firewall.
A Type-R with those HOT Type-S wheels... bah. Any `00-01 ITRs want to trade for my GSR wheels? (Yes, I know they won't fit.... but doesn't the ITR usually get something unique, moreso lighter?)
Other than that... it's hot. Nice to see Honda do an ITR in blue. Very clean y0!

Sam. What you can't see can hurt you. On the pic from the rear, just to the right of the black merc in the garage is a 2001 Lamborghini Diabloe 6.0. Black, and low as hell, about 3 feet tall... I was humbled... My friend who took the pics owns it, plus the 3 story house in the background
By the way, great car
I really wanted to get a 2002 ITR, but i just could'nt afford it.
So i got a run out model instead, you own what i would've bought if only i had an extra 10k to spare
Oh well, it looks great, i haven't actually seen a 2002 Type R on the roads as yet. I guess the town i live in is abit slow ;P

You have a perfectly good car, I really like the older model, and if time had of been on my side, I would have bought one! At the time I bought my car, the run had discontinued on the older model, and I wanted it new.
Congrats on your purchase, equally as good as mine!

yes, that's about right. it's one of the common misconceptions in north america that Japan is using 100 octane on the north american scale. 100RON works out to around 95-96 octane here
nice DC5R! too bad they don't provide the 17" wheels the JDM R has. I can't see from the pics, but do the NZ DC5R have the Brembo calipers?
