Default cl s tranny question

what is the main problem with the tranny? i heard that its something with the jets in the tranny that spray fluid to the 2nd gear. is this correct? i am about to get a CL s and dont know if i want the auto one. which would u recommend....auto or manual? are there any problems with the manual tranny? and lastly....would it be wise to get an auto CL s?, because im worried about the tranny. it would just be cheaper to get the automatic one since i could get an older one.

The second gear problem is pure bullshit and nothing more than a publicity stunt.

The real problem stems from the 3rd gear clutchpack. Due to poor quality control, the clutch discs come finished with rough surfaces and they basically eat up the clutchpack over time. At threshold, they shatter, effectively destroying the 3rd gear, while rendering the 4th and 5th gears completely useless. That's why when a 5-speed transmission unit blows in a Honda, it drops down to 2nd gear.

That's where 99% of the transmission trouble originates from, yet Honda doesn't do anything about it because it'll be too expensive to fix/replace. But what's that, one incident with the 2nd gear and they are doing a recall??

Well, holy ******* ****. Honda DOES care about us!

They are just using it as an excuse to do a cheap recall, while at the same time making the innocent stupid public think that the transmission problem is taken care of now. I'm sure tons of people have heard about the transmission problem by now -- but honestly, how many of them know exactly what's wrong with it?

Honda is taking advantage of the public and I don't like it. For people who have been petitioning and working hard to do something about the situation, this bullshit recall was a slap in the face.

**** HONDA AND ACURA. Save yourself the trouble and go buy a G35. If anything, at the least, you will know that your transmission won't lock up on you while going 80 on the highway and cause an accident.

TL, CL, Accord (equipped with 5AT), Odyssey, Pilot, MDX -- they all have this problem.

I guess for some reason, though, TL, CL, and MDX are the most affected models.

Honda/Acura needs to do it like the good old days -- Legend. Even in its time a long time ago, they came with 220 hp and a 6-speed. Self-closing vacuum doors on the coupes, rock solid structure, etc, etc. I'm a big fan of the Legend.

i was a little spooked to see the doors close by themselves the first time though. lol.

but they do need to go back to the old days. till then, ill be content with my L.
