Default racing downpipe

Is a racing downpipe for turbos only or can it be applied to any car? I understand that they increase the flow out to the exhaust but do they make one for a 94 civic ex? Also, magazines such as super street state that they increase up to 25 hp, is this true?

This is the way I understand it. Downpipe is the term for the pipe between the turbo and the cat. In the case of hondas your headers or manifold bolts up to the cat so tech. there is no downpipe.
I've had other cars with a down pipe but no turbo, where the manifold or headers do not bolt right up to the cat, so tech, there is a down pipe there also.
Thats the way I had interpeted as anyhow, anyone go ahead and correct me if I'm wrong...

Don't unhook the cat from header on a SOHC motor......
LOUD as F@CK, and you lose all power below 4500 rpm.

I tried, didn't work!
