i have a jdm d15b with low mileage i know its not an ideal motor to mess with but it was free and it runs great and i want a to find a complete turbo kit but i dont have a clue on what companies make one or how i can find parts to fit my engine to make a kit. need some info if you can help

 

do some research Greddy's aka trust turbo system was actually made for the d15b in japan.

how hard is a greddy turbo to install

 

i just peiced together my own kit and i couldnt be happier. The jdm d15b is very closely related to the usdm d16z6 so any turbo kit for a d16z6 will work fine. IMHO just search the classifieds for a good used turbo kit such as the greddy or if your lucky you can find the apexi sohc turbo kits still lingering around (awesome kit for d series). the money you save by purchasing a used kit can be put towards engine management that most turbo kits skimp out on ie, uberdata, hondata, aem ems, whatever your cup of tea is. most turbo kits are relatively easy to install as long as you have a basic knowledge of how things work. If not you can just come on here and search or ask questions (thats what we are all here for right?)

 

I know this motor is a small one, well really small, what do i need to keep from blowing it like: boost controller or somthing to keep it from running so hard. also how many psi should i run all i have right now is an intake, lol,

The biggest thing is do not go cheap on your engine management, do things right the first time and the motor will run like a champ for as long as you can beat it up. Most people agree that 200whp is plenty safe for daily driving and in most cases quick enough to be satisfying. The best thing about turbo d series...they are a dime a dozen, if something happens and you do blow it up, just spend the money most b series people spend on their motor mounts and purchase a new motor

 

mine is non vtec, what mods do you have on your engine

 

Piece together your own kit. Its cheaper if you know what your doing and more satisfying IMO.

Why is the D15B a less than ideal motor to mod? I have one that is close to 200whp on stock internals, and it hasn't given me any problems in over 7000 miles boosted.

Piece together your own turbo kit, or the Greddy kit will be fine. Most bolt-on parts for the D16Z6 are compatible.

Fuel management is the most important aspect. Go here and research: http://www.pgmfi.org

 

hold up, you got a JDM d15b non-vtec? I think your confused or I dont know my motors.

The jdm d15b only came in vtec and thats the only d15 I would say can handle boost. Takes some pictures of your motor and upload them. There is another d15b POS non-vtec motor that you might have.

haha im flirting with disaster.... im closer to 235-245whp on my stock d15b daily driven. its been running fine so far, just waiting for the day a rod goes through the side of the block.

 

I think that motor is ok to use, but needs to be built in order for it to work well w/ good boost

 

I have a complete sohc turbo kit that was pieced together that will fit and bolt right up to your d15b. Includes many good parts. Im looking for $1500. If you are possibly interested, let me know and I can give you all of the information.

Um no, if you want mad power than yes you should build it, but reasonable power can be made with a stock motor as long as the essentials have been taken care of, ex. proper engine management, proper fuel upgrades and no half *** ghetto ****. Look around, people are making well over 200whp with their d series, daily driven, and running for a long time, most people decide to build their motors to fix the need for more power rather than blowing it up first.

 

so does any one know of any turbo kits from any company for the non-vtec jdm d15b

 

sorry to bring this back up , couldnt i use an fmu with this engine boosting 8 psi
