Hello my wife and I are looking at buying a house somewhere around seattle maybe on one of the islands.(like you care) Anyhow I am from the smog **** capital California and was wondering how much of a pain in the *** your ref's and smog stations are?

 

Pretty easy if you ask me....Also, if you can register the car in some of the smaller cities/towns, you may not have to smog at all.

They don't check under the hood of the car, it is just a tailpipe emissions check.

 

From what I have heard from my brother (who lived up there for a time), they don't even pop your hood. No visual inspection.
