LS Vtec VS GSR which car have more power??
it all depends on how well the ls/vtec is built
if ur talkin about doin a swap i would go with the gsr for reliability
ive heard of lsvtecs smoking type-r's tho, but ive heard of them gettin raped by Si's so it all depeneds on the quality of the build

It all depends on the driver. if the driver knows his car, then he would definately have the advantage. To my knowledge the LS Vtec should pull on the GSR because LS crankshaft will give the car more pull in the beginning(torque). I've "heard" of LS Vtec pulling type r's too, but i've never actually seen that happen
i don't think you know what ls/vtec is really. A properly built ls/vtec IS NOT STOCK by any means. It must have proper gsr/itr oil pump, aftermarket head bolt, aftermarket cams or oem ctr/itr, different Ecu combination, some sort of fuel management...etc. It is a combination of items to make the build successful in terms of power and reliablity. Also, it would be a waste of an ls/vtec build if the compression was not bump up.
There are many factors that affect a compression btw the two car you talking about. YES, LS/Vtec HAVE THE POTENTIAL to overpower the stock gsr or itr..no joke. If you taking about slapping an vtec head on an ls block and that is stock to you....then no, it will not have more horsepower or reliablity as a gsr.

tranny ratios come into play, as well, and the GSR has an advantage.
The low end torque from the LS block is minimal and will never be an advangage in a straght line race as a GSR can launch at >4K.

By making an LS VTEC you are trying to build a GSR / TypeR engine.
You'll get the advantage of shorter runners on the b16 IM if you use that head btu aside from that, part for part GSR should allmost allways be just as powerful if not more than the LS VEC.
This is not because LS VTEC is a bad idea, but you are trying to build a b18C engine with parts that arent ment to go together. Unless you can achieve the precision done by honda, your engine will not be a b18C and consequently will never be as well tuned. Now, if you start adding parts to your LS VTEC, yes you can make it more powerful, but then add the same parts to the GSR engine before you compare.
Yes the LS has a better crank-rod ratio for low end torque, but this ratio isnt designed for high rpms, so what advantage you'd gain low end you'd probably loose something high end, since a gsr will allways stay above 5000RPM throughout the 1/4 mile (appart from the launch), the LS VTEC is at a loss at this point, it simply cannot have the "rev happy" aspect the b18c engines do, due to its geometry.
As far as I know LSVTEC is a basically a poor mans GSR / ITR engine.

Seriously!
Assuming both are built exactly the same, what do you think? A GSR has Vtec. An LS/Vtec has Vtec and the slightly larger displacement. What do you think the answer will be?
I don't think the original poster needs all the details about the driver or how the motor is built.. Basically the simple answer is above.
