This was going to be a reply to a post in some kill thread, but I decided that it made me mad enough that it should be a separate issue. so here goes the reply:

God please shut up with the MAd Skillz Yellow thing. Even if it was ever funny (not), it's old now. Just about the only time I ever hear it brought up is from non-ITR owners who want to somehow make up for the fact that they don't have one, so they find a way to bring down the owners to their level by implying that they are ricers. Even if I wanted to buy a black ITR, there were none left. And anyone here who knows me will gladly tell you that I am not a ricer.

Do you hate people that drive EBP Si's/Preludes and SSBP GS-Rs too? You paint this picture of yellow ITR drivers as 19-year old, Nike visor-wearing jackasses who drive with their seats reclined. Sorry but not all of us can drive a precious CW ITR or a stealth black ITR or a ******* f22 Accord for that matter.

Well this happens in the ITR forum and in the Competition forum as well. So I posted it in all 3 because those are the only forums I visit. There is definitely some snobbery on the part of non-PY ITR owners, and sometimes the PY owners just play into it by complaining about how their car is too eye-catching and how they'd rather have a CW. For Christ's sake, the car has an 8-inch wing on the back and big red "R"s on the side, and redlines at 8500rpm. If you don't want attention don't buy the ******* car, get a black WRX or something.

 

The kills forum is controlled by an "elite" group of experts...

You can't even argue with them because they'll either delte your replies or change them altogether.

I've only seen a few ricers in Yellow Rs...I've seen a lot more CW ricers to be honest...I'm in the ATL area if anyone else wants to back me up.

I've wondered why so many V8 lovers even hang out over in the kills forum...WTF? Shunned by their own? Have to pick on "4 bangers?"

What gives...I don't even have a PY ITR, but I hate that **** also.

Did you really get one? not to digress from my rant but that's a sweet ride. I was thinking if this import craze really gets out of hand I'll just get one and rip out all the BS and fix up the suspension. Honda made the R in yellow because any sports car worth its salt is made in yellow. Ferraris, Porsches, Vettes, Mustangs, Lambos, Lotuses...the 5 basic colors are Black, Grey/Silver, White, Red, and Yellow. There are not many exceptions to this rule.

 

Of course! I was just joking (obviously)! Although I'm sure that the young demographic that the R appeals to had something to do with offering Yellow (as one of two colours). I think Silver would be the least "age-dependant" colour in the sense that it appeals to everyone. Some older peeps tend not to want THAT much attention... especially if they're criminals (not that any R drivers I know are criminals... though I know a few sketchy Integra drivers..... yiiiiiiiikes!)

I'd be thoroughly surprised if anyone who give people chit about the color of someone's car, especially one R owner to another, was being serious. We all love what we have, so it's our tendancy to joke about those who have other stuff (i've always liked PY = "PullMeOver Yellow")...but who the hell cares what color a car is. Ultimately. It's just paint, it's a wear item, and if you bought a honda for the paint quality you're pretty fuggin stoopid. Anyone who's being serious when they consider the color of a car to me a major factor in it's worth, has some seriously crossed wiring when it comes to the importance of an aesthetic. (Tyler Durden says: Even the mona lisa is falling apart. Use Soap!) Black, white yellow, red, silver, fuscha, taupe, heather mist....it's still got a blood red R on the sides, and the heart to feed it.

 

That's funny, D was the one that told me that yellow was the color of "look at me, I have a Type-R!!"

 

Yeah, but while D's car is technically CW, most of the time it's "dirt-colored waterspot effect with black and red bugsplat on the leading edges"

Hmm I thought Black wasn't a color ( you know.. the absence of color.. )

And white was the mix of the primary colors, so it's in essence all colors...

Dude, I would give up my Black R any day for a yellow! Black sux, I wash it, pull it in the garage, already dirty. Any chip or scratch can be seen a mile away not to mention I live in Texas and during the summers, when it is 120 degrees out I have to park it under cover or it MELTS!

 

Actually - all the 'colors' mixed together produces 18% gray - this is the color you use to set light meters on cameras - as it gives you the closest to the average exposure (f-stop) in a given light situation.

white and black are monochromatics.

While I do like CW, my first choice was and still is PY (and to borrow from Aleph, I'm still laughing at 'PullMeOVer Yellow', that's great). I just think it's beautiful. In fact, I'm always saying that when my R gets stolen, I'm going to buy a yellow S2000 as a replacement. I don't know what it is, but I just love the yellow. Plus, it's so vibrant, not like that washed out yellow of the Boxster or some other yellow cars I see out there. While I was looking around for my car, I would have purchased the first car that was available, because I was more interested in the car itself than the color it came in, but I lucked out and got my first color choice.
