Default New Road Course in Richmond, VA Area?

I heard through the grapevine that a new track was in development within 30-40 miles of Richmond, but could not seem to find any details anywhere. From my understanding, they have either begun construction or are very close. Is this true and why is this the first I've heard of it. Any of you hear anything about this?

Could this be VMP?? I heard a totally unconfirmed rumor earlier this year that it was built with the ultimate purpose of having a road course with the drag strip being the front straight like Mid-America (used to be). Anyone know for sure?

unconfirmed rumors, but I heard it also. (vmp) nasachris may have some insight on this. He is a big player in the va roadracing arena.

I've heard the VMP rumor very very briefly but I don't remember who or what was said. I remember the expansion of the dragstrip was a possibility, and dreaming about how that would come to fruition. That... would rule like I don't know what. I cannot even think how cool that could be, provided the course didn't end up being a big kart track like it would seem E-town appears to be. Anyone know if there are any substantial changes in the topography around that area to know if there might be some interesting elevation changes?

Dragon's Ridge? 4 mile road course around Williamsburg? I guess you should ask Cobra Killer Cobetto.

yes, it is going to be at VMP, about 10 minutes south of petersburg, in dinwiddie. the main holdup was zoning, they have 600 square acres behind that place to use. however, i talked to felton about it this weekend, apparently the zoning has been pushed through. no other details. i've heard there is a BIG map of the course in the tech shed where you get air for your tires at VMP though, i'll have to check it out next time i'm there. this would be AWESOME. Hopefully they'll see how clean, well run tracks take off (i.e, VIR), and do it the right way, and not leave it dirty like the drag strip.

I can't confirm any of that information so let's assume it is not true.

Cobetto is the guy who actually knows for sure.
