Looks like many of the smaller "drift" tracks that are featured in option video.. Hopefully it will be an open access track like those as well!!

the pile of dirt on the top left is for Motorcross...it's pretty cool watching them jump those bikes...

its nice that i live 20 mins away
if i can talk to them maybe they can connect some of the turns
and make it a bigger course or less turns for a faster track

Any words on what type of access/license it will require to get some time on the track?

OH WOW

that's awesome... i had no idea that they could fit a road course on their property... although from the aerial picture it seems that it's a really tight course and gonna have fairly low speeds, definitely not a high speed track, but still... awesome... 1.35miles is pretty decent

damn, i'm pleasantly surprised... i always felt Englishtown management was just focused on their drag racing only... this is great!

Out where, in NJ? yeah. Compared to anywhere else? It's cool, but not THAT good!

honestly im not sure if they want just anyone unleashing on their track without any ideas on how to really drive a car there...
I havent heard of any updates from them but there is almost no runoff anywhere...I hope there are going to be alot of barriers cos I can see probs in a few sections where if you miss the turn you are going into another section of track...
Maybe I can get a part time instructor position there...
It helps to be well known by the higher ups and the track owners there.
I for one would not want to be on the track at the same time with someone without any prior road race knowledge and experience...
I have seen more than one occasion of that scenario...
I will call them and ask if they have any plans on how to run there...
I do know they arent planning on having fullbore racecars there as there arent any provision for noise control as of yet...
I will post updates as I find out

What scares me is the element ...... Have you ever been on a Wednesday night? It looks like the LimeLight but outdoors.

Now picture those same guys trying to prove something to their boys on that track ..... its going to be a mess.

I'd vote for .... Zero Experience Zero Tracktime. I'm sorry folks but being that its a tight course, there is not room for ******* around. Let them practice at Pocono ..... nice and wide!

just trying to protect the true enthusiast!

some of those turns just seem to close to each other, with the flow of cars going in opposite directions. hopefully there will be some heavy duty barriers splitting it up

Brian
The very long straight has almost no runoff at the end of it, If you have brake problems after building up speed for that long, I don't know where you'd go. Seems it might be quite .... painful.

good idea, poor execution.

however, i hope that e-town proves me wrong as i live ~5min away from there.

(and yeah...i can only imagine what it'd be like with the wed night crowd on a track...)

Yeah, the "trendy" import crowd at E-town is pretty gay in general. The track looks decent, and hopefully will not be exclusive to SCCA amateurs. Can't wait to see it when it opens.

my thoughts exactly about the runoff or lack of it...

I hope they realize that some of the wed night fools will wreck their car if they dont brake in time or have a failure...

I was admittedly freaked on day one at watkins glen...
I saw 4 totalled porsches that met the blue bushes
I agree with Nick on the zero tracktime deal

I also agree with the zero tracktime scenario. This place could turn into a lethal and legal mess in no time.

Default E-Town gets a real race track!

Considering how small the track is compaired to the 1320 strip, I looks very tight.. I can't see much roo for run-off areas. The button section of the light bulb looks very close to each other, almost that if you want off the course you can slide onto the other section of the track. The stright sections do not look very long 600-850 feet.. I would prefer a longer stright.. However it looks like that this track will give the advantage to smaller cars due to short strights...

Jonas,
I am on your side when it comes to letting people on the track who have no clue. Most likely there will be driving clubs to teach people how to drive at speed.. Maybe this will lead to better drivers in NJ (yea right).... Regardless the track will be ready in the spring and so will I...
Nick,
Everyone has to start somwhere, My first 2 track events were at Bridgehampton, and that track is not for beginners, at the end of the 3/4 mile long stright you had a OFF CAMBER 1-2 turn!.. If you did not go into that turn with your foot on the gas your fucked!!! Does bot matter how hast you were going 120,130.140,150,160, the bottom line was, once you lifted on the gas in the turn 1-2 you were sliding right off the track... so this track might be a good beginner track to learn on, there are alot of turns 6 rights and 4 lefts, so there will be alot focusing on car control and less attention on how fast yopu can get your car up to....

I just made a few calls and found out one of my friends in PDA was able to take his mustang on the track allready! He said the track is seup fairly well. There is room to get up to speed.. The problem is that the people who designed the track and all about auto-cross. And autoX is alot different than rodaracing!!! and that is the problem with it... They will be installing gravel traps and tire barriers before the spring arrives!!!

Motorsports must be growing around the country because we are getting a 2.3 mile road course here in Nebraska(acually Iowa,) track is laid and we will be racing on it next march!!!
