Default Sleeving B18C5

I asked this same thing in the All Motor forum. I thought I'd post here to see if you guys give the same answers...

I am going to sleeve my B18C5 to 85mm. I was planning on having it sleeved with the AEBS 85mm closed deck. I can also go with a Benson 85mm open deck for about the same price. I just found out that it is going to be about two weeks before they get more AEBS sleeves in stock. 2-3 week turn around from that point. I am looking at about the same time frame for the Benson sleeving. This is going to be a 12.5:1 N/A setup. Being that price and turn around is about the same, which one should I go with?

i went with darton sleeve. through ldl speedshop in vegas.
but between the two choice you gave i would probably go with benson, only cause so you said aebs is out of stock and who knows maybe they will be delayed on getting the new ones. or maybe they won't get enough and some guys might get bumped.
unless your preparedto wait, iwouldnot gowith a company that don't have them readilly available now. nothing wrong with aebs if they had it instock i would have probably choose them

Darton sleeves are nice, but the Benson would be my choice, just for turn around time.

I doubt he's going to travel more than 1/2 way across the country to have his block sleeved.

And naturally I semi-disagree.

On an all-motor setup, sleeves isn't a necessity for the amount of power created, but if you wanted to increase displacement the stock sleeves are only good to about 82mm. After that, they are too weak. In that case you have several options, purchasing a B20 block, for instance, or getting the current block resleeved. If I was strictly on a budget, perhaps a B20 block would be the better alternative, but if I had the money, I would most definitely sleeve. It all really just depends on what setup your trying to build at a given budget.

I was gonna go with Benson on my set up (though Earl on HT). Quick turn around time, sleeved to whatever size you want, with Pauter rods, and CP forged pistons, micropolished and fully balanced assembly...If you havent talked to Earl yet, I would recommend you do so. Search for his posts as well, others have used his/their services and I dont think I read a single complaint about ANYTHING, service or quality seems top notch.

Earl and Benson is the only way to go. It's just something about Earl being on here and helping contribute to the community and offer great services and back it up with support and feedback. Sorry, you can't beat that.

Another for Benson. I've seen their products and almost finished a Benson Sleeved 2.0 CRV Turbo setup if the owner didn't run out of money and ditch it. LoL Top Notch stuff.

Dart makes a replacement block now that comes with a closed deck.It would probably end up cheaper in the long run,and a lot more durable!!!
