Default Will this run rich/lean? Safe for break-in?

Okay...sorry mods if this isn't ITR related enough. However, I posted it in the Integra forum earlier, and have had zero responses (not a surprise since a lot nimrods are over there).

So...here it goes...

Here's the situation...

Engine broke...blah blah blah...
...
New usdm b18c5 shortblock and a rebuilt GSR head w/CTR cams. The head is not ported, but has had a valve job for the new seals. The shortblock is brand new, and I will need to break-in the motor. I will also be using the mugen headgasket, putting my CR at 11.1:1.

I currently have the stock fpr and stock obd1 gsr ecu. The CR will be at JDM ITR range. If I'm correct, the GSR ecu runs richer and less aggressive, so will it be safe to break-in the motor w/this ecu. I plan on using hondata after it's broken in. Will it be too lean? I don't have an adjustable FPR on there right now simply because of hondata plans.

Any thoughts?

Not sure if I can or not honestly...I was planning on buying Dave's hondata, but I might have to get someone else's if it takes too long.

I just need something to break-in the motor safely. I've decided to just throw an FPR on there for now, per my own safety and some help from members over on team-integra. I'll turn it up an extra psi or 2, just to be safe. After the engine is broken, it's time to get hondata and have it tuned.

Cars suck.

I'm no tuning expert, but why can't you install the Hondata with an "as close to stock as possible setting"?

Why not install it and have your motor break in with the new ECU from the get go?

Can't for 2 reasons...

1) Money...engine breaking wasn't in the budget.

2) Was going to save money by buying Dave's S200. However, he hasn't pulled it off his car yet.

I don't know if this helps but I broke in my b16a2 motor with ctr pistons (which puts CR around 11.5:1) with the stock si ecu. Break in was perfect even though it ran a little rich. If your concerned about it running lean just check your plugs after you start up the engine. Btw, I have a brand new hondata s200 I might be willing to sell.

You have an obd1 ecu already so....

willems burner= $60
Parts to chip ecu= $30
tech edge wideband= $140
uberdata= free

Then tune it yourself.

u might want to check on that because ctr pistons in a b16, would yeild the same compression as the ctr, i could be wrong, i know the ctr uses a b18 block destroked to a 1.6. Anyway your compression should be higher than 11:1, being that the GSR head is gonna yield a higher compression ratio, and with the mugen head gasket im sure your looking at 11:3:1-11:5:1

You answered it right there. The b16b and b16a has the same stroke but the block height it taller in the b16b, so when you put ctr pistons in a b16a block the compression is slightly higher due to the shorter deck than the b16b.

Picked up an FPR locally tonight. I honestly don't think it will lean out, but as stated in the :fire: thread on team-integra, I'll just caution on the side of safety. If it's not needed down the road, I can always sell it.
