Default are the length of vtec valves bigger than ls rev valves?

wanna make sure the machine shop didnt put in vtec valves instead of ls valves, cus it seems like my intake valves are staying open and causing my car not to turn over...makes whinny sound like the timing belts off...

If the valves are open all the time, then you have something more serious to think about....like piston to valve contact! I would suggest double checking with the shop to make sure they're the right valves, or you might risk bending a valve or worse.

I dont even know if rev makes ls valves.

vtec b series length is 102.7mm on the exhaust, and 102.4mm on the intake

correct me if i am wrong
but if the vtec ones are shorter, on a LS head, u wouldnt be able to install the valves and not notice that they are shorter.... besides, if they are shorter, they will be tight as hell and will not give u the problem of the valves staying open.

when u install valves, u need a spring compressor
a spring can only compress so much before the coils touch each other..
if u install shorter valves on the head, the springs (1) might not compress enought to have the valves go in (2) they might go in, but u will tell that the springs are closer than usual , and will not assemble correctly, and they will be tight as hell, and u will not be able to open the valves as much before the coils stops....

as earl stated 2.9mm shorter is a lot
on normal assembly, its only required about 4-5mm in order to get the valve keepers on/off

does the starter have enough torque to bend valves when turning it over?!

that would suck if it did cause i fear they are bent if they arent closing right

something has to overcome the valvespring pressure to hold that valev open

Did you adjust the valve lash when you put the head on? If you did, then that's not an option, there has to be clearance when they're shut. If you didn't adjust them, then that's probably your whole problem, they're too tight.

Isn't the stem diameter different between a VTEC and NON valve also? I think I looked into this a while back because I was going to try and install some stock B16 valves into my B20 head.
