*** Unable to Time a b18b with a Timing Light... White mark too far ***
Ok, Now i got a real trouble that I don't know how to solve.
My engine is a b18b and indeed, I did jump the wire under the glovebox before trying to time the car.
1st: I started the car, make it reach normal temp, put the inductive clamp on spark plus wire #1 (closest to belt) and connected the timing light etc...
Once the car started and idleling at aroud 1000rpm, I pointed the light on the crank using the black plastic mark on the the timing belt cover as reference point.
Now, I set the timing to 16 (was 0 at startup) on my device and pointed it to the crank.... here comes the problem... no mather how much I turn the distributor to, the closest I can get the alignement point to, is on the red mark. No way I would be able to reach the white mark (I would need to slot the distributor and turn it more toward the right (when looking at the engine from the driver side).
If I set the device to 0 and point it to the crank, I can't even see the red mark no mather wich way I turn the distributor....
THe ECU is bone stock... the car is running 450cc and even If I put my modded Ecu in, it does the same thing.
Can someone tells me what is going on ....

Sounds like you jumped a tooth on the T-belt. You want the word "up" to be at the 12 o'clock postion and the white mark to be lined up w/ the timing pointer. Align the pointer w/ the white mark and see where your cam(s) are at. Adjust accordingly.

The up arrow on the camshaft sprocket is only approximate. The REAL timing marks are little dimples out at the teeth. Those should line up horizontally, level with the top edge of the back timing cover. DOHC, there's 2 dimples on each sprocket, they should all 4 line up under a straightedge along with the shaft centers.
