How exactly is the H23 vtec "built"? What mods does it have?

it would mainly depend on if you know the shop VERY well or not. you dont want to an engine from someone you dont know. especially an h23vtec. being that its not a normal build everything would have to had been done perfectly for it to be fully reliable and be worth 3000$. thats alot of money for somehthin you know nothing about. but if you trust them and their work i would get it. if not get the h22

^^^ Exactly... no use spending that much $$$ and ending up with a headache. I'd lean more towards the H22 w/lsd assuming it was a healthy motor that came with a leak down/compression check.

My vote goes to the H22A with the LSD tranny, you don't know how well that H23 VTEC motor was put together and if they cut corners during the build. In my opinion $3500 for an H22A swap seems like a lot, have you tried getting quotes from other shops?

My opinion is to take the h22 with the lsd tranny. I feel an h22 will give you your power your looking for but also less problems down the road. Its takes blood, sweat and some talent to do h23vtec or you can yourself swap an h22, in matter of day or days.

well if i still had my tools i would do it my self with the help of a friend. but my dad took all my tools when he moved a few years ago as his was stolen. so i gave him my set almost 2 grand worth of tools :{

anyways im getting the h22a non-lsd swap done right now its in the shop 2800.

all the shops in my area i must have called 10-15 shops all knew they could get an lsd but they were charging like 4300. the one shop i had that quoted me 3500 is now saying they cant get it and would take over a month to get a new one and they would have to charge me 4g+

Man those are some good prices. Inline Pro charged a guy I know $4300.00 to swap out his h23 for a h22. and His car is dirt slow. He also has gone through 3 transmissions since
