SMELL IS GONE!! THIS ISH WORKS
so when the guy before me had the car, he never ran the air, so im sure theres mold and other unknown crap up in there, and i would like to know where the cabin air filter is, and where it sucks in the air that it blows out. i was thinking that after i remove the old filter, i could get that stuff that kills germs in the air, and smells good too, then run the air system for a while and repeat, then replace the filter with a new one. if you guys have any better ideas, tell me! cuz its embarrassing when im with my girl and shes hot, and i turn the ac on and it smells nasty as hell. -thanks

You don't have a cabin air filter...you'd have to remove the blower motor and box to completely do away with the filtration mechanisms, but that would still leave five meters of plastic tubing that is probably just as contaminated.
Get a can of lysol, turn your air on full blast and empty that bastard towards the slots in your wiper cowl. It'll kill the germs and reduce the smell greately. Keep it up and it might go away completely.

Thanks, tool...I guess that needed to be said since the first response to his inquiry was my statement:

LOL @ the title..
What Archidictus said will probably work.. If not you have to take the dash off and remove all the tubing and such and clean it all out..

thanks for all the comments guys, is there a better place to spray in the cowling? like in the center? im sure that when i look down in there, i'll see where the ducts are, and just to be sure, i want the air thing set on fresh air, not recirculating, right? and one more thing, for the recirculating air, that duct is underneath and behind my cd player. this should be easy since i have stripped interior...cant believe how nasty it smells...lol and for the guy who asked if its the inside, or the area around the elephant ***, i guess its the whole surrounding area of the elephant

I have a similiar problem but it usually goes away after about a minute. Now my hatch area smells like *** though everytime I open up the back window. I dont know what was going on with the car before I owned it though.

Can someone post a pic of this? Just used my A/C the other day for the ride to work. Had to turn it off because it smelt as if an elephant was farting in my face.
Just went outside and took a look. Should I spray in all the openings or certain ones?

Never been to the circus?
Never been to the circus?
Picked up some green apple lysol. This stuff smells awesome compared to that flower / powder $hit that Lysol offers. Sprayed the exterior air induction vents last night and again today. Car smells lovely now
I will continue to spray the inductions for the next week or so......
