My New Mods Coming Soon - TARGA TOP!!!
OK, I had this great idea since my car was a hatch, to do a targa top right after I get the following done.
- Get about 10 dents out of doors caused from previous owner hail damage.
- Finish CUSTOM Cat-Back Exhaust.
- Wet Sand Scratches on Driver/Passenger Door.
- Install Amplifer Which is on the way via UPS Ground
But anyway, after that list is done, which shouldn't take but a month or two, then I want to set out for a full custom targa top on my teg. I've never seen one before, I tried searching google & found one pic of one, but two guys were standing right in the way where you couldn't see it. Anyone else have any pictures of a custom targa integra? How much would it run, im sure its under $500, there is a place here in my town that does custom sunroofs for $220, & electric ones for around $300-$350, so im sure a targa wouldn't be much more expensive. Well, tell me ya'lls experiences b/c I want this done by the middle of November!!!

I would only add one with a roll cage. Modern cars don't have a full frame, you don't want to start messing with the body too much, for fear of structural damage.
who needs structural support?

that's not exactly a targa top, but this thread just reminded me of our van, and can show you what NOT to do.

that will look badass once u do it, when u find the price and place let me know @ joncalienes@hotmail.com
I will say this, i think a targa top would be phat but, its to much work and is gonna make the car flex like papper. I mean i always wanted to do T tops or vert on a 3rd gen accord 90-93, but its just to much work for nothing more then ****** with the regidity of the car and compromising the integrity of the chassis. Would be cool and far from ricer. But it aint gonna happen.

lol lots of learning you must do
If you remove the roof section from an Integra coupe, you must then:
- cut away the door window frames
- somehow support the triangular windows and rear hatch
- somehow reinforce the entire car because the floor will want to fold up, making the tops of the windshield and rear hatch move closer together, making the doors inoperable (either they'll never open again, or they'll never close again)
in short, the money required would probably surpass the value of the car.

This guy can't be serious. You already have a huge hole in the back of the car and now you want to make another one on the top? lol
A better platform to start on would be a civic coupe without a gaping hole in the rear like the teg. Or better yet, just get a sol. Honda couldn't even get it right themselves. My friend has a ******* I mean del sol lol and he hated it. He said the whole car would shake over large bumps.

There is alot of work you have to do. I already started the convertion. You do have to have at least a 6 point cage 500.00 by itself. doors have to be cut. and lots and lots of body work. Have to make a water run off also and not inside. Should have mine done by Dec. if not October

the floor isn't strong enough to support it. even the del sol, with all the reinforcements it got, creaks like mad.
The S2000 has the X-bone chassis, making it stiff with no roof. The integra doesn't have anything like that, nor could you add it. the floor will want to fold, bringing the top/front and top/rear closer together, thus affecting doors. I wouldn't be surprised if they got sealed shut after you hit a really bad bump.
also, patrick is right on the door sashes. You'll have to cut these off and find a way to keep the sealing right on the targa top.
I think the best way would be to take a RS or type R with no sunroof and do a T-top. That way there will be at least SOME support. PLEASE don't butcher a type R
I don't think you can or will do it. if you do, you will destroy the value of the car.
