1991 CRX SI Seats into a 1989 Hatch STD
My bro is building up his 91 CRX and he bought S2000 seats for it. So I took his red/black recaro SI seats. Now, the rails are not even close and they're allll out of wack from the 88-89 body. So I figured I'd start by modding the STD seat rails onto the rex ones. (fyi i still have the 91 rails)
Right now I'm using hole punched metal and the 89 stock rails modded onto the CRX seats. I'm using 2x4 peices of wood that i've placed under the carpet in order to boost the back to mount points up to make up for the different body style (no rail mount bumps). Long story short there's way to many bolts (32+) and modifications to make them tight and stable. If there's a simpler way I know it would be better.
I gotten it to the point that they're pretty close now, drivable and everything, but they don't look level and you can definitely feel it when you sit in it. (And they squeak which makes my want to light them on fire) Now has anyone done this mod? And even if not, does anyone have some good general seat mod tips that can get these things in straight and level.
Any help would be awesome!

I did the searchin and all I came up with were people saying they bolted right up. But those people were doing EF3 and EF9 JDM swaps and not USDM 91 CRX SI seats into USDM 89 Hatch STD. I'll go take some pics right now.
Hmm, both of those posts are dealing with 90-91
So Pics! Woot:

CRX Dash and Seats in an 89 STD (Shift Boot Coming Soon ::embarrassed:
You can see the obvious tilt and off center of the seats.

Front Passenger Mod (All Bolts Follow)

ooo a penny!
The remenants of Florida's hurricane are coming up the coast so it's too crappy outside to take out the seats to show the mess of modding there is to them. It makes for a very squeaky creaky wobbly off center headache. So has anyone seen this or tried this.

Have you tried swapping seat pans (if they appear to be interchangeable)?

Right.
CRX differs from Civic, and the B-pillar seat belt cars differ from door-mounted seat belt cars.

i have si seats in my 91.. all i did was took the cloth off the dx and si seat and put the si cloth on to the dx pan, so when i was done they matched up perfectly
yea, it's a mess... i'm just gonna keep hacking at it until it works. I'm going to try and put the CRX rails back on and start from there.

Yes, from what I have heard.

Civic seats pans are interchangable with any other seat pans (integra, s2000, newer civic seats...), but for some reason, you CAN NOT switch the 88-91 Civic seat pans to the CRX ones.
Usually when you switch the pans the seats have to be reversed (in my case it was and a few others that I read). The passenger seat is now my drivers seat and vice verse. With the CRX seat it can't be done. This is only with switching CRX and Civic seat pans.

I did a similar swap a few months ago, I put 90 civic si seats in my 88std hatch. The 88 bolt pattern is totaly different in the rear. I tried switching seat pans^ but that won't work with the 88 civic. So I had to wizard, cut, drill, fabricate sliders. Its still not perfect to this day, and it sucks because I won't be able to sell them because they are so customized/hacked to make fit.
All the work and my tree trunk *** still doesn't fit in them. On to sparco 3.............

Yea. I think i'm going to either go back to stock 88-bolt STD seats or aftermarkets. The SI seats just won't go in right. Thanks to everyone for trying to help, but it's just a lost cause to get these things in perfectly.
