what parts could possibly be made of carbon fiber?
After seeing mpr3's cf charge pipe and AIR's new intake manifold, I started to look into carbon fibre. it seams that CF is impervious to heat soak. and flows very well compared to any of its metal counterparts. and depending on the resin used can be 3 times stronger than steel. yet much lighter.
I have found that wheels, brake rotors, dashboard, driveshafts for rwd cars, clutchs, body parts, seats are available for all kinds of cars. now I know because of price most parts wouldnt be practical. but I want your opinion on what could be feasable.
I was thinking:
traction bar
roll cage
axles
suspension
rack and pinion
transmission casing/housing
bumper support
input/output shafts (in tranny)
thats all I can think of. do you know the heat threshold of cf? would it even be feasable to make a rotaing part like a connecting rod from this material?
