Default Looking for a nice, quiet, sleeper 2.5" catback...

My parameters are pretty restrictive sounding, but:

I don't want excessive loudness
No buzzing/farting
Just a nice deep tone

Any suggestions?

I got my RS*R 2 weeks ago. $290 for full catback. Louder then stock and a little louder. 5dB louder at idle. 1dB louder at 6000rmp.

machaf-the full cat back for 290? do you have any pics of it by any chance? Also do you have any clearance issues? Where did you buy it? sorry for all those questions. I'm hunting for an exhaust myself.

Contact Dave Stadulis. (H-T.com username: SMSP). He builds and sells 2.5" exhausts using a Magnaflow resonator and muffler. I've got one on my car. Very much a sleeper system and nice sound, too.

Greedy SP is a good quiet one as well. Not exactly a sleeper in the looks department with a larger tip but nice and quiet.

Just cut the tip and put something smaller.

sound wise, the SP is more of a low growl...well for what a 4 cylinder can growl. OThers i have heard are more high sounding . Hard to explain, just be sure to ask people to hear therew exhaust before you drop some coin on one for youself.

Look in the classified section I got the RSR exhaust from him. The exhaust is very quiet it looks stock (ceramic exhaust).

I would get the SMSP exhaust.

They don't make a real 2.5" cat back yet. The closest is a 2-3/8 (60mm) tanabe exhaust.

The Apex world sport is really quiet too and it has the stock shape muffler and tip.

If he wants a true 2.5 all the way through the apex muffler wont work. The inlet is 60mm.Get someone local to do a custom Exhaust and use a large resonator. The only mufflers I know of that have inlets that size are N1 type(HKS,sebring etc..)You typically won't hear the words 2.5inche Ex. and quite in the same sentence.

Re: Quick Q--what's the piping diameter for Greddy Evo Exhausts? (comptechgsr) 2:21 AM 6/25/2001

Just to point out since it doesn't seem to be registering to like 90% of the people who posted in this thread:

YOUR TYPICAL BOLT-ON AFTERMARKET CAT BACK EXHAUSTS DO NOT HAVE 2.5 INCH PIPES.
If you want something quiet get custom pipes, a resonator, and a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler with a tip of your choice.

Fuzz, think before you speak. The USDM ITR exhaust is very far from 2.5 inches. To my knowledge there are no after market 2.5" either.60mm,3" etc...but no 2.5"
