Shakes when it idling
Hi I just join the forum today! How you all doing? Good I hope.
Well I'm a car noob trying to learn so excuse me if I ask dumb things. Anyways my problem is that my Civic EX 2000 is starting to shake when it idles. It's starting to shake more often now. I was just wondering if this is normal and if there's anyway to make the shaking stop or happen less often.

Hi welcome to the site. How bad is it shaking? what are your RPM's at? have you inspected your motor mounts? It does sound like you have a motor mount failure or you have lost a bolt to a motor mount.
automatic.. lots of them do that while stopped. thats because the car is always trying to pull forward (while in gear anyways).
just do a tuneup if u havent in a while.. plugs, wires, cap, rotor, filters.
might not solve the problem, but good maintenance is always a good idea.

I have a Civic 2000 LX auto and I have the same problem. I think the idle is set too low but have not had a chance to pick up a timing light to check it. The tach shows around 500 RPM when I get the shake, which I am pretty sure is low. If I rev the engine to show 900-1000 on the tach then the shake goes away. Also, the problem started when I had it in the shop a while back and they adjusted the idle, among other things.
My $0.02.
Good luck!
