Hidden delsol antenna
Hi there,
I am going to shave off my delsol antenna but i'm not sure where to put a replacement (internal wise). My rear window is electric so i don't want to mount it there. I was thinking about putting one in the roof above the rear window. What do you guys recon? Would my reception be ok? there would only be the metal of the roof in the way of the signal.
Cheers

If you're going to mount a "soft" antenna inside the car, I've seen some mounted along the very top of the windshield. The black factory tint that runs across the front window hides it very well, and if it's stretched out all the way, it should get decent reception.

Looks its Alfafa

thanks for your ideas. How would the a-pillar get any better reception than under the roof at the back though? I might experiment a bit. Could i just run a normal bit of thin gauge wire and tape it where I want?? because that's all stereos in houses have.
i would mount it on the outside of the rear window off to the side so atleast from the front it won't be visible. i think any kind of antenna sticking up from a del sol makes it look even more like an RC car.

Bump cuz im curious to know if this would work. Would a small wire just like house stereos work as a car antenna?

it depends on the length used for the peice of wire. to get good AM radio reception you would need a LOOOONNNNNGGG peice of stereo wire (kinda like the one at home is very long, it just raps around that plastic square or circle thing). but anything can work as an antena, it just has to be the same length (or half the length) as the wavelength of the station sending you the signal
