Default VTECH question

I have a 95 Civic EX, with the sohc vtech engine... I don't really understand what goes on with the whole vtech thing... is it supposed to kick in at a certain rpm? because I've pushed my car pretty hard and haven't felt anything extraordinary. when it kicks in, what am I going to feel? and if its not something I'm going to feel then what is it doing?
I know this is a really noobish question probably, but I'd really appreciate it if someone could help fill in the blanks for me

alright man, you have a SOHC and you cant really feel vtec. In the DOHC motors you can feel and hear the diference. If you get an intake you could hear the difference in pitch. But for a good vtec crashcourse.. http://www.howthingswork.com its a great site... To sum it up its variable valve timing.. Simplistically its a economy motor with a performance end.

Just asking to get flamed hahahaha. Look man on single cam motors when vtec engages it's not as pronounced as it is on a dual cam motor. Either way I don't think you even know what to listen for. Just search around, the answers will come to you. And yeah.....someone lock this thread.

You sure u aint talkin about Vtak?
Variable
Transistor
Accumilator
Kineticizer

Any ways its Vtec not Vtech. Vtech is a phone.lol Those how to sites are good info on how Vtec works. you wont feel it like you would in a DOHC Vtec. But the Single cams have just as much potential. Seem to be a very popular motor to turbo. Good luck and welcome to the site.

Mang, you doods suck!

Vtech pwnz all!!! 2.4 Ghz baybee!!!!

But seriously, get a SRI. When you have it installed and are driving, short shift to second and floor it. You'll hear the change in sound when the revs get high enough to go onto the second set of intake cam lobes.
