Default Locked up HF motor

An 88 HF with 202,000 miles and the motor is seized up. Any ideas on where to start looking for the problem? Wife says rebuild, I say a swap for a DX original motor or equivalent would be chaper. Please help

I agree, but I'm not too sure if I could pull off a swap by myself. Besides, I would have no clue what to get. Any ideas on a reliable (not fast) motor?

Swap not much harder than a pull and rebuild. At the bare minium, you might try getting a used HF somewhere. I haev an HF motor with bout 112k and was thinking about totally restoring the car and checked on re-furbed HF motors and they are a little less than 2k. Or you might try getting an SI motor/tran somewhere too.

One thing bout the HF... its gas milage is almost equal to the new hybrids from Toyota and Honda.

HF = teh shittiness.

I say just pick up a cheap complete D16A6 Si engine from a Civic Si or CRX Si with a transmission and put it all in... No wiring, and a much quicker engine due to the light HF chassis. I would recommend upgrading the intake and exhaust due to the increased breathing capabilities of the A6 over the stock HF engine.

What about a JDM D15? There is a place I was looking at motors on a website and they said that my HF is an 8V and I would need a 16V. What does that mean?

it means that u dont want to listen to them.. you want to listen to us.. either get a d16a6 (civic/crx si) , d16z6(92-95 civic ex/si) , d16y8 (96-00 civic ex) and yes u can get the jdm d15 single cam vtec too.. just make up ur mind.. and go get it.. just make sure u get warranty if you do get it from a company.. if not just inspect the motor really good..
