Default SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!! CAN'T DRIVE MY 87 ACCORD LXI AT NIGHT BECAUSE....

Hey everyone,
I just bought a 1987 Honda Accord Lxi and have got a problem......My headlights don't work properly, specifically, when I turn on my headlights on, only the left headlight works, then a couple minutes both will work, then they will both turn off, and sometimes they will even flicker on and off. I replaced the fuse for the headlights cause it was blown, now only the left side headlight will work. I can't drive the damn thing at night cause i'm afraid my lights will go out.
I remember I had 1994 infiniti J30t and had a very similiar problem and found out that i had to replace a relay box or something, it fust a small black box under the hood on the driver's side I believe. I'm asking for anyones help....I know there are alot of smart people here that might have an idea of whats going on. Any help is appreciated. THANKS!

we need more info, does the lights flicker when you are driving on the road or just when parked. Meaning do they flicker when going over bumps and such or does one light go on and off when going over bumps. if so it is probaly a loose ground.

Seems like a bad relay. I'm guessing the coil in the relay is bad and couldn't produce a stable magnetic field to keep the contacts close. Therefore your lights will flicker or shut off.

ok, i went to the dealership and they told it's a common problem--Wires get corroded and and **** happens and results in a short. I bought the wiring kit-$50. And I guess it takes almost one hour to do the job...
Thanks for those who provided me with the input.

It's prob too late now but the wiring becomes corroded and brittle. Then as your headlights go up and down, the wires break and shorts out blowing fuses and intermittent working like you have described. If you haven't already bought the wires from Honda, you can get them much cheaper at your local auto parts store. Just buy the pigtail (plug that matches the current plug with wires attached to it) and find the break(s) and splice in the new pigtail.
