Truth or legend?
All Civics are economy shitboxes.
Doesn't mean they can't be race cars . . .
Anything can can make a great race car. People race anything from Mini Coopers to Civics to go-karts to european luxury sedans . . . the list goes on.
Tell your friend to pull his head out of his *** and stop thinking that only sports cars can be race cars.

92-95 is a lot better than 96 and up, anything obd1 is better than obd2. the bottom line is that a civic ex is just too heavy to make fast easily, but its possible to make into a racer i guess

It certainly is possible; just ask Lyonel Kent. He "only" won the 2003 ECHC H4 chamionship in one . . .

Is this a joke, econobox is a playful term, it is not the actual platform, ask your friend if ignorance means anything to him, eg/ej chassis are light, have nice multilink independent suspension front and back, and have more aftermarket support than you can imagine. Race on 92-95 civics

The engines in them are economy engines. Also, they aren't built to be race cars. That doesn't mean they CAN'T be fast. They are very lightweight and practical, making them a popular daily driver/racer combo.
