Seperating Axle from tranny
I'm in the process of switching out my passenger side axle. I have everything done and out of the way except seperating the axle from the tranny.
Is there some trick to this? Or should I just beat the **** out of till it's out? Do I need to worry about damaging anything?
Thanks for any help

just to clerify, put a lever in between the axle and the tranny and wack it to pry it appart?
Also I tore up the rubber part of the lower ball joint, while removing it, and I have a replacement, but I need to know if it is possible to get it out on my own? if so how? or will I need to take it to a shop to have to pressed out? Cause it is in there GOOOOD

that is SO totally not needed!!!!!!!!
put a jack under the rotor, raise it up, and undo the ball joint nut and smake the LCA with a hammer, i have NEVER had one that hasn't come off yet.
as for getting the axles out of the tranny, i take a small prybar and they come right out everytime.

thanks to everyone for your help and very quick replys
but yeah I don't have an air hammer lol I might be able to get one off a friend to use tho....
but even if I did, I would have to hit it from the bottom because of the lip that goes around the top of it and about half an inch about the top of it is the wheel bearing, so it seems like there is no place for it to go or get out.....

I already have it loose from the lower control arm, but I need to know how to get the actual ball joint itself out of the steering knuckle

um, i have an air hammer laying around. acually most ppl who have air tools (which i do recommend if you are going to be working on a car, and are even planning on doing any kind of swap/mini-me swap), have an air hammer in the set
so to clarify to you, alot of people have air hammer's laying around

getting the ball joint out with an air hammer is no problem at all. Getting a ball joint in with an air hammer takes more then an air hammer and a big headache.
