Default obd0 to obd1 swap must adjust timing

ok I looked in the haynes manual for the motor I have and all it says is to adjust the timing so that the mark on the pulley lines up with the notch on the block and depending on what the sticker on your hood says depends on whether you use the red or the white mark. wtf.

I have and 88 crx si with a obd0 b16 that I am converting to obd1, and I will be resetting the timing to factory spec after I swap out the dizzy, the problem is my hood won't match the engine, and the god damn book doesn't say **** about setting the timing light for degrees btdc or any of that sh*t, it also says to jumper the service connector.....uh don't have one, I assume that is the same as flipping the switch to get the check engine light to read out the trouble codes on the obdo to obd1 veh.

so can anyone help me on hw the f*** to set the timing on this thing. I know how to hook up the timing gun and that it goes to #1 cyl plug wire. I know to get the engine to normal operating temp. what I don't know is what marks do I look at, where they are( do I have to pull the plastic timing belt cover? and what setting do I dial in on the advance timing light. I seem to remember something like 23 deg btdc on intake and 16 deg btdc on exhaust but not sure. please help I am doing the swap tomorrow. thanks
