Default I think Im going to build a d16z6...

Yeah yeah I know. D series=poop. But Id like to try it. I think Im going to run some d16a6 (88-91 si) pistons, one layer head gasket, and possibly mill the head a little to get the compression from 9.1:1 to around 11.5-12.0:1 cr. Thats going to depend on how much valve clearance i have I suppose. Ill get a ZEX cam or something similar eventually. My question is. Does anyone have a similar bottom end setup? Any tips? I guess the main reason Im doing this is because I have the a6 pistons and building it is easy enough for me. So its just something to have fun with...

I was going to go with A6 slugs on my setup but i decided to fork out the money and i put in Aries 11:1 in there with a JG head/cam shaved to .030 which netted about a 11.65cr and i had LS rods for alittle more durability. Try to find a Y8 intake with the Y8 fuel rail, thats a cheap up grade that works pretty well also. With that setup i ran 14.1 in a 93 hatch with interior on 14x20x8 slicks. Good luck

Dude, 140-160 whp for like maybe 2k is not a bad deal man- d's are light, cheap and can be pretty powerful.

Good luck with the build-

I have crower valves and valve springs I am selling for a d16y8 or d16z6 if you are still going to build a d16. Check it out if you are interested.

IM trying to do this with as much free/stuff I have already, parts that I can. Id like to hit 140whp eventually. I think thatd be pretty nice for a d series in an EF 4 dr.

D-series pride. I'm building a JDM D15 for NA and i couldn't be happier with the little D. Spending only $540 on an engine and taking out GSR's, you can't beat that. People talk **** about the d-series engines day in and day out, but they are totally underestimated. Look at Bisi, that's all i have to say really. I've been considering ditching my little D for a B-series but comparing some of the 1/4 mile times of those running Ls/Vtecs and D's....there's a new found love for my engine again. Why spend $3500 on a sick B-series build that runs high 13's when you can make a D16 run low 14's for damn cheap? And you can always just spray on it to get 13's.
It's fun being an oxymoron anyways: All motor D15.
Get the #59300, i love every mile of it.
