wanting to remove firewall stuff...some questions.
hi. i have a 91 crx with a gsr engine in it. since i dont use the firewall MAP sensor, i would like to rid myself of it and possibly everything else on the firewall i dont need.
to help me make my decision, i need a little information from anyone wiling to give some.
first, i would like to know what the charcoal canister and evap purge valve actually do and what their purpose is. and how removing these things will affect the emisions from my car as well as the resulting performance change, if any.
next, i will need to know what to do with some vaccuum lines provided i do remove all the firewall stuff. there is a vac line going from the evap valve to the back of the intake manifold. would i just cap off that nipple on the manifold? also from the charcoal canister there is a line going to the firewall. do i cap that off as well? also the same goes for the vac line going from the charcoal canister to the throttle body. cap it off?
ill try to get some pictures of the exact places im describing if needed, but i think i described it well enough.
any help is greatly appreciated.

Keep your charcoal canister, trust me first hand experience, what does is take out most of the dirty air that gets sucked through the intake, im pretty sure.

Ugghhhh. Please don't post crap that you don't know for sure.
The charcoal canister is connected by a hard line to the gas tank and by a vacuum line the TB (or IM) and absorbs some gasoline vapors and some it purges into the intake air.
It will have no effect other than polluting vapors into the atmosphere if you remove it. Just don't unplug any connectors or you may have a CEL. I haven't had one for about a year, now...

theres 3 lines on the charcoal canister. the 3rd line goes to the firewall stuff. what do i do with this line? just hook it to the intake manifold?

You can remove everything with no check engine lights.
I can prove that.
The only thing on any of the walls in my bay is the wiper motor and brake booster.
And the only vacume line I have is for the FPR.
If you have emmision testing you wont pass but if you live somewere without testing go ahead.

what about the line that goes from the charcoal canister to the firewall. if i remove it theres still that hard line comming out of the firewall, what would i do with that? cap it off or what?
and i do have emissions testing but when i took the integra, they didnt pop the hood, they just put it on the treadmill and ran the sniffer. would it still fail from the sniffer if i remove these?

The hard line need to stay vented but if you want you can run it back into the manifold to make the hippies happy

will this work on all crx's? for example my car is OBD0 and I have alaot more vac lins than my buddy's crx that is OBD1 now. I've been wanting to clean up my engine bay/firewall but i also need to know what I can toss and what has to stay.
TIA.

just remove the firewall. i'm pretty sure it doesn't do anything anyway. none of the hoses in the engine bay do either. they're just for show.
