I was driving along normally and all of a sudden my motor makes kind of a weird noise and the tach drops to 0 like the car just shut itself off. The steering started getting stiff and the battery and oil lights came on. I pulled off the road, cut the power and when i tried to start it again it sound almost like it was going to and then made kind of a whiny noise. Any idea what it could be? I checked and none of my belts snapped or anything.

 

when was the last time you replaced your distributor cap and rotor? Also might want to check the main relay (under the dash) and the fuel pump relay (under the hood)... those two relays are notorious for failing.
