flamenco vs nighthawk
I see people with FBP and NBP in thier signatures and Im wondering why. It seems like everyone associates the 00 ITR with FBP and the 01 ITR with NBP. did they change the black from 00 to 01 or do people just not know what color thier car is?
Nighthawk Black Pearl sounds cooler...therefore it's better.
Actually, rumor has it that ONLY the '01's came in NBP and the '00's came only in FBP. Either way I bet most people couldn't tell the difference.

fbp=Flamenco Black Pearl on 00 black R's
nbp= Nighthawk Black Pearl on 01 black R's
there is a difference
and don't ever suggest the R owners on this forum don't know their cars
1 strike for the newbie

Honestly, I've only seen a FBP ITR in person and never a NBP so I wouldn't know. How much different do they actually look? Can you only tell in direct sunlight?

i saw a clear picture of two black R parked right next to each other
one a fbp and the other a nbp
the fbp had a bronze tint to it
the nbp has a dark bluish/black tint
if you parked the two next to each other, you can see the difference

The difference is quite apparent in good light...there are sizable blue flecks in the black of Nighthawk, it's more of an ultrafine blue powder in the Flamnco, with hints of red as well (leading to the bronzeish glint). It's an entirely different paint code...if i'm not mistaken, black civic Si's are flamenco, black accords are nighthawk. How much more black could it be? And the answer, is none. None more black.
There is a subtle difference in artificial light, but under the Sun, it's a big difference.
I had '99 FBP EK and now '01 NBP R.
FBP = more purple flakes
NBP = more blue flakes

Actually I think Nighthawk Black replaced Flamenco Black across both Honda and Acura lines in 2001. IE, Civic Si's were FBP b/c there were none made in 01.
I believe all Hondas/Acuras that are black now are NHB except for the NSX, which is Berlina (sp?) Black, and I have no idea about the color of the flakes in it.
This reminds me of the Diamond White vs Premium White discussions I used to read about in the Prelude forum...(reminiesing)

yes and in my opinion and not just cause i own one, the NBP is the nicest "black" ive ever seen. under flourecent light the car looks tottally blue. FBP is alot like the granada black pearl they used to nake in 95. still nice though
