Default Questions about Mugen chips...

When they install Mugen eproms I assume they are customized to the user's needs? like Redline, etc? I have a Mugen chipped PR3 and was told that it has a rev limit of 9500RPM, no speed limiter, VTEC speed sensor bypassed. On the ECU itself, "disabled sensors" is written on the box. It's throwing codes 10 and 15 which I believe are Air temp sensor and distributor. Just wondering if "disabled sensors" has anything to do with the codes?

for the most part when they put disabled all sen's i think its just the knock turned off along with oil pressure so it can tell you everything else...as for the Mugen you have...theres like 100 varients, i have seen people running the skunk2 and ericks racing proggie under the mugen title...

If it reads Mugen, it doesn't mean that Mugen tune it for your car.

People now adays just say "Oh it's a Mugen tune" or "Oh it's a SK2 tune" then people will just jump on like hot cakes.

Just remember it's not tuned with your mods so your not getting all the power out of your engine mods.

Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't.

Bottom line, a chip is a chip nomatter what you want to call it. If it ain't tuned then it's just another chip. Once it's tuned then you can call it "a Reelizmpro tune"

CRX T-Si is right...
If you don't know all the variables, and I mean down to fuel and timing profiles, not just vtec activation and rev limits, I wouldn't run it in the car.
If you're lucky, it'll run like crap, make less power and throw codes. If you're unlucky, you damage your engine from a lean condition or over rev.

This is not to say ecu tuning isn't a great tool, but using some mystery labeled "Mugen" chip because you crave a little more power isn't a good idea.

You may get many different answers on this but yes a VAFC piggy is good IMO.

My **** is tune with the VAFC Hack at 9psi so it's working for me for now.

You can get the VAFC street tuned or Dyno tune(recommended, but will cost more).

However if the chip that you have is too far off then even with the piggy it won't help you.
