Default An Si Hatch Reflection

Owning a B5.5 Passat Wagon, I browse the Vortex forums occasionally for some insights. Recently, I came across the photos of the new Golf V GTI; and, it does look a lot like the EP3.

I love it, very subtle flaring of the fenders, and a real hood... if only the ep3 had these.

Still, I wonder, doesn't the new Si design have some kind of spectacular drag coefficient or something?

My bad! I just modified the link for all you good folks. I've seen a photo somewhere before where the EP3 is parked along side the Golf V. I have yet to find it again.

And that is why VW sucks, they copyed a bad idea.
Like whoever said above the EP would be real nice with a "hood" and a lower body/roof.

I can't tell if this comment means you like your Si, or dislike it...? What were your reflections about your Si?

Maybe VW can keep this one under 3200lbs.

They have always had decent styling with their GTi line, but that's about as far as it goes IMO.

Evidentally VW thinks 3000lbs + rear beam axle + open diff + front struts = a good handling car.

We bag on Honda for losing the "true" meaning of what an Si is, but Honda is a lot closer than VW is to what the original GTi was.

I've noticed that newer generation VW cars do ride a bit soft and weighs bit more. It is so anti-racing. However, if you think about it the other way, VW cars are great grand touring cars.

I know the new turbo golf weighs in at 3200 lbs and god only knows where they put all that weight into the hatch.
