Default Want a faster engine, but still want air conditioning.

I just got my CRX and it has the stock 100HP engine. I want a faster engine, but still want my Air conditioning. What are my choices?

Any d-series, any b-series. There are brackets that mount your stock ac compressor on a b-series engine. There also are turbo kits that will fit with the ac compressor in there, or you can design your own kit. So you aren't very limited at all...start searching and find out what engine you want. Don't ask, search cause this is a very covered topic.

Mini-Me = D15b block/Civic Ex-Si Vtec Head
DOHC ZC
SOHC ZC

For the price, all those will give you excellent power and you can retain your stock A/C. And you keep your stock mounts/tranny/linkage. Simple as cake, btw those are all D-series. Not even close. You can technically make A/C work with a B18C5 Integra Type R engine, you know. I believe http://www.hasport.com has an A/C bracket for a B series swap into an 88-91.

Its all comes down to what you want to spend. Since your new..I suggest going with the cheap and approved d16z6/y8/a6 (I'm not sure which car you have) Plenty of bolt on aftermarket parts for those cars and its alot cheaper then going B series. But if you do go B series, you'll love it. Yes you can retain A/C with B series using the HAsport custom A/C mounts for the 88-91 CRX EF Chassis.

Good luck man!

The thing is, my brothers know ALOT about this ****. But their always one sided on this stuff. So id rather get some more opinions. My Brother has an 89CRX with a B16A and he told me all the things i would have to buy to make the swap.

And i said, damn. Over 2 grand for all this ****. And im not a person to buy used stuff for my car. cause im gonna be using it a long *** time.

B16A, here i come!

um a b16a is used and you never know the condition its in...

buy a brand new supercharger for the same price, get better output than a b16a, you keep your stock engine and a/c and your good to go...

ZC + turbo + AC. But in your situation I would go with a D16A6 with a Supercharger instead of a B16 if the cost was going to be about the same and you have your bro's helping you out.

That doesn't work real well when it is 100+ degrees outside. Getting my brother's 1989 Accord was quite an eye-opener. In the midday sun, I will drive his (now mine) old, slow car anyday over my Civic and CRX hybrids, both of which are MUCH faster and (when it is cool, at least) MUCH more fun to drive. This great sacrifice of performance is well worth it to me in order to not feel drained, feel sick, smell bad, and be drenched in my own sweat when I get to where I am going. And let's just say that it has given me alot more motivation to get A/C going in the Civic and CRX. The bottom line: some of us are just not made for the heat. Don't try to tell me (and people like myself) that I don't need A/C!

Around here, it gets real humid in the summer. 85+ deg with 100% humidity and raining to boot. Defrost with AC is the only way to keep your winshield clear wnough to see through. I sometimes use my AC to cool myself, but most of the time it's to augment the defrost. So IMO, a proper street car should have AC! Oh yea, you can still go fast with AC.
