Default ls/vtec crower stg 3 cammed dyno...

Hit up the dyno today, we were moving along, had the intake cam at +2 advance, exhaust at +2 advance, however the head and deck have been milled an unknown amount so... prolly need to play around with the cam timing some more.. we were going to do some more pulls when his distributor took a crap on us, he's got no luck with obd0 distributors lol..he's getting a brand new one from distributor king soon..a/f still needs a slight clean up here and there

ls/vtec ~12.5:1 compression
81.5mm bore
gsr head w/crower stage 3's (light port polish)
skunk2 intake mani stock throttle body
stock rods(arp bolts) and stock oversized itr pistons.

Im sure theres other stuff Im forgettnig but that pretty much sums it up.

run 3 is baseline what we came in with after some rough street tuning
run 7 is where we made the best power at +2 +2 before the dist died

torque really dies off in the top end, probably due to the ignition timing, max advance at the distributor all the way cranked to advance was only 15*, and this is tuning via VAFC

check out that gain in the midrange

here's crower's results with the same cams

judging from the results from crower, we're not going to get too much more top end out of em, tq falls off just like john's did today..altho with the higher compression we should see some better numbers once the cams are dialed in and the timing is bumped up a bit, dunno whether to be dissapointed or satisfied, but its we're not done tuning it yet...

which stage 3's did you run?

they have 2 diffrent stage 3's for the DOHC VTEC engine....the 63413 or the 63403?

not bad numbers i guess....i would imagine they could use some more tuning....

I have heard those crower cams are not that good. Try some skunk2s or jun3s
sounds like from what I have read on this forum that your almost at stock power.

header is a jdm dc 4-1. Not really in the beswt shape either. Im thinking a free flowing 2.5 exhaust will help but by how much? Maybe even a throttle body? I mean I guess im kinda close to my goal mark. But it just seems like the numbers are kinda low.

numbers do seem low with that compression and those cams. a good header will net you ~5whp up top and a better midrange(just a guestimate).

I would think the numbers would be higer with such aggressive cams.

181 whp. 81mm PR3 pistons 11.3:1cr, ls vtec, stock type R head, stock intake manifold, type R cams. jdm dc 4-1, field vtec controlder tuned.

I agree. Numbers should be higher but my distributer was probably cutting out during tuning, and I couldnt advance more than 14 degrees. I need to find out a way to tune obd0 ecus. Im not about to convert to obd1 when the season is almost over. Maybe over winter but not now. How can I adjust my timing/fuel??? Chrome maybe?? anything better?? Im kinda stuck with this mugen n1 program and Im starting to wonder if its not quite right for my setup.

Any recommendations??

What were your setting shant?? what was your timing, overall timing, cam gear settings, etc etc. Your setup is very close to mine but I have yet to yield any good numbers.

my set up was around the same and made 208hp and 140trq

12.5 to 1 compression je pistons and eagle rods
gsr head with rev springs and retainers
crower stage 3 cams
skunk intake manifold
shitty 4-1 dc headers
310cc injectors
stock throttle body
tuned with a feilds afc
afr was around 11.5-12.0
timing was at 18 deg

wow that seems super low for such extensive work. it seems low becaue a stock b18cr makes roughly 175 whp with no mods at all. all that work and no one is even breaking 200whp? i hope that your tuning it ***-backwards.

good luck man!
sounds like a serious set of parts in that biatch
